    Slicks

I am looking to buy some slicks.

I would put them on my 15" x7 rims.

    I have a civic ex with a 1" drop.

What size of slicks would be best to put on here? What height and width would fit my car? it has been suggested 26 x 8.5 but will those fit in my wheel well and fit on 7 wide rims?

    thanks

26 inch wheels will be hard to fit on your civic with a drop. You may experience some rubbing. How much power are you making that you will be needing 26 inch slicks on a civic.

I had to raise my Civic back up to about stock height to fit 24.5x8 slicks on it. And 26" is probably around the smallest true slick you will find for a 15" wheel. My 24.5x8's are on 13" drag wheels. You could get some drag radials, the BFG's are okay, especially if you want to drive them off the track, and Hoosier makes a 225/50R15 that is pretty close to a true slick. I just got some of the Hoosier 225/50R16 drag radials, and I'll post after I use them. I'll probably be selling my 24.5x8 Hoosier slicks on 13" Lenso drag wheels, which fit on a Civic with stock brakes and not too much of a drop, for around $300, depending on the vagaries of the ebay bidder pool.

So how much power are you making?

The 26" was what someone told me. I dont have any desire to actually go that big or even a necessity. I guess whoever told me that, didint know what they were talking about. I am making 312hp /236tq at the wheels. Presently I am running Yokohama ES 100 street tire which are not bad when they get really hot. but i just wanted to try some slicks at the track to see what the difference was.

Thanks for all your help guys. I think i would check into the drag-radials

rmcdaniels i would be interested in thos rims and hoosier slicks

The Yoko ES100's are not a bad all around street tire, but they pretty much blow goats at the drag strip compared to DR's or slicks (I ran ES100's for a year). BFG drag radials would be a big improvement, and slicks are a big improvement over the BFG's. I'll put the Slicks and a bunch of my other stuff on ebay this weekend and I'll post here when I do. with the slicks on I got my 60' times under two seconds and I could actually floor it in 3rd without spinning them too much (380 WHP).

^yea just let me know when they go up. Yea ive been to the strip with them and they suck. i bounce tremendously, actualy throwing me out of gear once, and i lose traction in third. to keep traction i have to drive it quirky so i cant stay in high boost throughout the pull and getting shitty times.

I also have a set of m\t 22x8x15 slicks mounted on some enkei wheels. I was able to hook up really well with these when i was around your hp. Pulled consistent 1.8 60 ft. These have about 11 passes on them. $200

That sounds like a good deal.
