I have heard so many stories about how one is better than the other, but then someon turns around and tells me otherwise...so now i dont even know what to think...any suggestions...can anyone set the record strait?

Well 1 advantage the b16 would have is the oil squirters, i'm sure there are pros and cons to each.
ls block = cheap
b16 stroker = NOT cheap
~5 LS blocks (stock) = b16 with stroker kit
Something like that
yeah but i heard that once you stroke the b16 to a b17 and put sleeves in it that u get more horsepower (about 23hP) than a stock LS VTEC...Quote:

So how much power do you want? What's your target and what do you plan on using it for?
I second going FI, on top of the fact that LS/Vtec engines suck. In any engine where you stroke it, you are going to lose top end and gain bottom end. If you make the stroke too big, no matter WHAT engine you are using, it will not like to rev too high, just the way physics works.Quote:

well, i learned the hard way that you should'nt rev a B20 Vtec past 6000rpm on a regular basis or you will spin the shity bearings that come in it. if you go LSvtec or B20vtec i would recomend using better bearings
get a gsr motor.Quote:

its a ls vtec with all the right oil passages :)
the little bit that you throw off the the r/s ratio isnt enough to make a difference. i know someone reving the same combo to 9k.
or
ls block, b16 head. gsr oil/water pump.
oil sandwich and full race or GE lsvtec kit.
rev away.
it all depends what you goals are, in my opinon there is no point in going ls/vtec or stroked b16 if your gona boost. get yourself a gsr motor and you will save $, save time, save headake.
every motor is diffrent, just because 1 guy got 23hp from strokeing his b16 does not meen you will get the same. there are to many factors to tell how much hp you would gain untill its done.
yea, hes right, every motor responds differently. Depends on how much you want to spend really, either way, the b16 will need a bigger displacement to make good power. If it were me, id go back, get a b16 w/tranny, bore it to 2.0 and run it that way that is if i want to say n/a. Really, if you're in CO, FI is muuuch better.
I did my ls/vtec swap for about 400$, thats a hell of alot less than paying over 1000 for a gsr. I am running high 14s on stock internals and I rev past 8000 at the track every time, no problems what so ever. ls/vtec all the way.

hmmm, course you could just throw a deck plate on a b16 and keep the same stroke. Voila! B21. Hmm, maybe bore it to 84mm while you are at it. Hell why not throw some sleeves at it and boost it, too? :-)
