the only reason they say that is because of the LS's CR(Compression Ratio) and how low it is. You could convert it to VTEC but LSVTEC IMO isnt really reliable. Are you sure its not VTEC. Is it the B18A1 or B18B1?

if it was a stock vtec motor, it would help it. but its difficult to get a reliable ls/vtec setup. your money would be much better spent building the block if you've already turboed it.
They also say to boost it because there is no other way to add power to a combustion engine that is as effective as a turbocharger.

An LS/VTEC isn't unreliable, it's as reliable as you make it or pay for it. I've got a couple of buddies running some sick LS/VTEC's, and they were built correctly and run like a dream. There's also a guy on another board that I'm on that runs a CR/VTEC at 13.0:1 compression on pump gas, and he's never had problems (aside from melting a piston chasing a Corvette and revving to 9500 rpm).

Nothing is out of the question if you have deep enough pockets.
