After reading this old thread (http://www.highaltitudeimports.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3433) I wanna know what other people have used to pull this off.

If you've got an air compressor then a Harbor Freight nibbler will make short work of sheet metal if the confines aren't too tight. A plasma cutter works as well ;)

I was thinking of something a little more "consumer grade";Slap:

I need to pick up a dremel anyway. I've wanted one for a while. Any specific model number, flywheels I should look for? thanks.

plasma cutter. (not exactly consumer grade)

Go to a rental store and rent a Sawzall, that will do it in about 30 seconds.

Ask around, its really not hard to find somone who has sawzall. I cut through the front bumper mount on my civic to make room for the intercooler with one. It cut through it like a hot knife through butter.

well I just need to make the hole about an inch wider all around. Can Sawzalls fit inside such a small area?

I have a Sawzall, you'll need to buy the blade for metal though currently it has dry wall blade on it..

I have a corded dremal that came with the extension wand. I would just go to lowes and look around or find one on the internet. I love mine, It kicks some ass.

what do those blades go for? Maybe I'll just buy one and give it to you for use of your sawzall :)

Good man, go for it. Just jam that saw in there and knock it out. I'll bet it doesn't take 10 minutes to cut. Then just clean it up with a file.

the cheapest way is to buy a large round file from tool king
and get in there with some elbow grease
if you want it done with less work then buy a grinding wheel kit that fits on the end of an electric drill, then grind away
i used the air powered drill on the one i did

hope this helps

Looking back on that if I would have had a die grinder it might have been better than using a dremel.
