Hey hey, me again... Just started thinkin' about some future plans and just recently came across the idea of goin' all motor instead of boost... Thought I could get some good idea's from some of you because I'll probably start investing on parts at a time pretty soon... First of all I'm 99% sure I want to stay B16A with a GSR transmission and probably a 9K redline chipped ECU. From there, I only have idea's of what to do so if you guys could give me some suggestions on the following:

1. Cams (Type-R, Skunk2, Crane, Spoon, ect...)
2. Pistons (Type-R, Spoon, JE, ect...)
3. Headers (DC, Spoon, ect...)
4. Valve Train Components (Spoon, Crane, Skunk2, ect...)
5. Cam Gears (AEM, Skunk2, ect...)
6. Rods (Eagle, ect...)
7. Clutch/Flywheel (ACT, Clutchmasters, ect...)
8. Intake manifold (Sunk2, ect...)
9. Anything else :D

Okay well my first idea was to go Spoon everything even know it's pretty expensive, but after lookin' as some of their prices  I'm not so sure anymore... I mean after I get some idea's from you guys if Spoon does perform up above and beyond all the rest then I guess I'll put in the extra cash to do it but if they're not significantly better than I think I'll settle with somethin' a lil less pricey. I also plan on the A'PEXi V-AFC for v-tec and air/fuel tuning for max performance, if anyone has a better idea on a better computer, let me know. Okay the brain storming begins now!

(P.S.) Yes yes I know boost is the best especally up at this altitude but I do plan on movin' to Arizona in the near future too... And glancing at the future mods I want on this engine, I doubt it'll be that soon before it all goes in :D (Inless a rich family member dies in a hurry)

It's "header" :p
I was going to yell at you for wanting to go N/A, but if you are really stuck on it, at least swap in a B18C1 at the least. Why not, if you're going to spend all the extra money for the expensive parts that will only give "minimal" gains. Look at 92CX, he was running a 14.2 up here. That's really good for an N/A car.

Okay okay I see where you guys are commin' from but I got this problem, after sleeping last night I had dreams all night of Blow off valves goin' off in my dreams... GOD WANTS ME TO GO BOOST! So now my big questions are:

1. What cams are good for FI
2. When it comes to boost should I go B18A, B18C, or B16A
3. Best kit for least money? Greddy with a Mitsu turbo (18G) or different kit with probably a Garret hybrid (T3/T04_)

Thanks for the help fella's I'm having an identity crisis :D

i had those dreams a while ago too.

like i said before, theres no replacement for displacement. im gonna suggest getting a 1.8 liter b-series motor. if you're low on funds a boosted ls motor will make you very quick. but vtec is even more impressive with boost.

if i was in your shoes, i'd get ahold of a jdm GSR motor (b18c) w/ th optional LSD tranny & boost that...just like what erik (m0nicle) is doing

passwordjdm.com has it for $3099.00 complete & 200 more for the lsd hydraulic tranny

I've herd that LSD is great for straight line drag racing but hurts when it comes to corning at autoX or road racing... Is this tru or have you even herd this before?

completely untrue. an LSD will help more when autoXing. just look at the integra type-r. it comes with a stock LSD & it's basically a factory track racing car.

Stock cams are fine, don't even worry about them unless you want to spend some serious cash. The reason stock cams are fine is because boost doesn't like overlap.

Yeah, turbo is really the way to go out here. I've done both, and was much more impressed with the turbo route, though the N/A was fun.

As far as cams? GS-R cams are about as close as to turbo cams as you want to get. The only difference really between crower turbo cams and GS-R cams is .5mm lift and a few degrees duration.

As far as the LSD? It's better than an open differential when cornering. Most units availible for our cars are 1.5way limited slips. This allows for the outside wheel to have power when going through a turn-- the one with most of the car's weight on it, instead of the inside one. When I had my LSD, I became used to maxing my car out around the cloverleaf on ramp at arapahoe road. As soon as it was sold, I tried the same and nearly spun out. I could corner faster with the LSD. I think you're thinking of welded differential. A welded diff makes the wheels spin at the same rate all the time, not allowing the outside wheel to cover more ground than the inside. This will mess up handling a lot, but ensures traction when drag racing.

Which kit you get depends on what you want from your car. If you ever want to boost above 8-10psi, definatly go with the T3/T04 turbo kit. I took boost levels up to 20psi, and the turbo wasn't maxed yet.

VTEC motors will respond better to boost than non-VTEC's, go with what you can afford.

It's all about money. If you have it turbo is the way to go for sure if you want to be the fastest!

I'm happy with my setup so far other than I didnt get the LSD when I ordered my motor. No major mods but the motor pulls strong!
