I'm about to buy a used JRSC for my LS. Are there any bad signs that I should look for? What are the most common problems with JRSCs? Thanks

Check the rotors for play and any signs of warping. Look at the rotor surface and make sure it isn't all chipped up. Hmmm what else? Check the seals for leaking oil. Find out how many miles are on the blower itself and aks if they used a catch can, ect.
What is the significane of the catch can? Wait, I think I know, but tell me anyway.

Stock the oil separator and the valve cover breather are vented into the intake before the blower (the oil separator is actually vented into the blower). It sends hot vapors back into the engine for emissions, but these promote detonation, and they dirty up the insides of the blower like you wouldn't believe. Ask anyone who has bought a used blower. They are usually black and oily. I used a catch can the whole time I had my supercharger, and it was clean as the day I put it on :D
Yep, that's what I thought. Thanks, I still learned something too. The emissions part.

Even before I had the catchcan installed, and I was getting oil vapors in the rotors, they still looked very clean when I put the 8 PSI pulley on.

Thanks for the info. I just found one for $1100 locally, and hopefully it's in good shape... The pic the guy sent me showed it installed on his car and he was using a breather filter for his PCV, so I shouldn't have to worry about oil and gunk in it. :)
Does anyone know where I can find install instructions in case it doesn't come with any?

$1100 is a great price! Try to get a Map Controller if you can right away unless you plan on getting a standalone.

Well, crap... the guy called me today and said the rotors are all chipped up. He says it boosts to 5 psi, but I'm wondering if that's because of the thin-air up here (ie it doesn't just boost to a set level like a turbo does).
Here's the full thread (http://www.highaltitudeimports.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9182). Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Well if it's just the teflon that's chipped it's no big deal. I haven't seen a used supercharger yet that didn't have the teflon coating coming apart. (hmmm now that I think about it the teflon must get sucked into hte valves, that can't be good)
