View Full Version : Intercooler question.
Is there any reason why I can't put an intercooler RIGHT in front of the radiator? Like with a half inch between them. If I can find my camera and some batterys, I will try to get a picture for you guys. Other wise, it would be on a G2 Integra RS (no AC) right in front of the radiator, and right behind the power steering cooling lines. I think there is plenty of room right there. TIA.

i wish i knew more about turbos. so I could help you out. Only effect I can think of (logically) is that the radiator may not be able to transfer enough heat due to the air coming onto it would be warmer (than ambient) from the intercooler.

Sometimes the IC will not allow enough air to hit the radiator and you can overheat so you should just make sure you can route fresh air around the IC.
Thanks, guys, I might just get a Civic style half radiator, then put the IC right next to the radiator. Talk about a sleeper huh?

If you get the small civic radiator try to get the Del Sol double core radiator. They are twice the thickness of regular civic radiators. Only like $120 for a rebuilt one too.........and they are all metal instead of having plastic end tanks like the regualr civic radiators.
Thanks for the info. I was going to look for one like Chris (Acurabro) has but since I'm tight on cash, I think I'll do just that. Do you think I'll have to make a lot of modifatcations to get it to fit?

dude, you the man!!! good info:)
My intercooler sits right in front of the radiator with no problems. It just depends on how borderline your cooling system is.
The front mount I had on my DSM was directly in front of the A/C condensor, which was directly in front of the radiator.
There were some initial overheating issues, but those were resolved with some creative airflow.
If you are limited to putting the IC directly in front of the radiator, perhaps an upgraded radiator would be in order?

I have a spearco 28x7x3 :D and I Installed it on my GVR4, took out my AC compressor, and important point! (Get a lower thermostat) so your engine will try to run a little cooler. Wetter Water by Red Line will help a bit too! Have any more q?s just email me Id be glad to help.

Beware that you don't go too cool on the thermostat, however... :)

I was just thinking about something like that... Since i have a civic, i was thinking of mounting the intercooler where the a/c condensor would be... all the way behind the support. Paint the front of it black, and there's no way anyone would know.
