I just saw a news report on Asylum Motorsports and how their customer service is really bad and they've had a back order of customer's parts for over a year in some cases.
I guess what I've been hearing for the last couple of years is true and people should avoid them.

damn, it must be a pretty big issue if they are showing it on TV. i would ONLY buy from them if they had it in stock. Never ordered anything and never will....
Damn, that sux. I honestly cant think of a import peformance store in this city even worth walking through the door. paragon used to be ok back in the day.

I know a guy in town that sent his car to asylum to have a b18 swap and a turbo kit installed. They had his freakin car for almost 2 years, and it still wasn't finished. The kid even had to buy a second car so he had transportation.

They have a pretty large customer base on the internet. There are a lot of people that prob get screwed by them from other states.
People should call the BBB on them.

I have a buddy who worked there for a while and quit because he was tired of fielding calls from pissed off customers. And I agree, I wouldnt let anyone in town touch my car. Places where the showroom is in shit condition and its turned into a place where everyones friends can hang out is just embarrasing. And does this sound familiar, you walk into a place the people there act like your cutting into their personal time and their doing you a favor just answering a quesion or two. If I ran a local shop I would be falling all over myself to help customers because no one else in town is and the word would get arround about your good customer service. People would come from all over the state to patronize your shop because people are usually willing to spend a little more if they think they can trust you and you take care of them. Being a VP of a small bussines my self I should know. All of our customer base is repeat customer referals. Oh yea, no one in town can touch prices found on the internet

The only bad thing about most of the shops that I have noticed is that if you have a Civic they have parts in stock if not you'll have to wait. Like I always say I will only buy from PAC MOTORSPORTS, they have been in business for nearly 20 years and they are a very reputable business.

actually the guy that you're refering to is Nick...he has a 97 Prelude that they were intsalling a turbo kit into. The guy they had working for them that knew how to do intsalls, quit and Nick was up the creek without a paddle. He's recently had it finished and is now working on his stereo system total custom job. He's one of my firends, and look for his car to have a feture done on it in Import Tuner very soon.

I know the guy that used to run Asylum...his name is Josh, he ran it when it was still down on Evans. He quit because he hated the direction that the company was going in. Now he's looking to start up a new business and run it the way Asylum used to be ran. Cause he did a very good job back in the day.
glad i found this out. i was thinking of ordering some stuff from them. not anymore.

Nope, wrong guy. It was on a CRX. I don't remember the kid's name, but I used to hang with him and a couple of his friends.

They did have a prelude in the back for a majority of the time they've been at their new location. Josh was working on a MR2 I believe that was supposed to be badass. Dereck is cool, but the rest are kind of smartasses.

I've never bought anything from there, I used to go there all the time, but would never buy anything unless they had it in stock, which they never did. Speed Image is cool, they did my motorswap, took a week, but only because of the auto-manual swap. The rest of my parts I get from Racing Trenz/ They are a bit pricey, but hey a lot of the time they got the stuff in stock, and if not, they ACTUALLY order it for you and you get it in a couple of weeks.

I agree. Fuck Asylum... i go to speedimage for all my needs. Trenz is a little to pricey for me.

I don't go to any speed shops around here, fuck them all. I order my shit on sale over the internet, get it shipped to my door, install it myself or call somebody like the Ghandi or Butch.

Hell yea, if you buy local you are straight retarded. And paying a local shop to do the work is for pussies. There are only a few things that I wouldnt want to try myself and even then with a little research most things you thought you couldnt do yourself are possible

Work on your own car, it's more rewarding. There hasn't been anything that I haven't been able to do with the help of a friend or two.

Some people actually work and dont have the time to do it themselves (like Myself)

I put in 40+ every week and still find time for my passion after work and on weekends. If you really work to much to do the installs your self that sucks to be you. Your missing out on half of the fun and satisfaction of tuning. I wish I could do everything like sleeving and motor build-up but just have to leave that up to a good machine shop like PAC.

Give me a break dude that is a fucking cop-out. I work 30-40 hours a week if not more, doing concrete flatwork of all things. Pretty labor intensive if you know what I mean. On top of that I take anywhere from 12-17 credit hours at UCCS every semester and I still have time to do all my own shit to my car. This semester I am taking 15 hours and I spend every other lasting minute studying. So I am a pretty busy guy too. And anyone that knows me will vouch for the fact that I always work on my own car with the help of B, Isaiah and usually Ted.

I'm working 70+ hours/week and I'm still finding time to work on my car alarm and other stuff with the car, don't make up a lame excuse like that, Please. I've done a bunch of things that I never though I could do, with the help of friends
You guys also have to keep in mind that not everyone on the board is as hardcore as you guys are.
P.S. I LOVE Afroman. Crazy Rap owns me.
when I install stuff on my car i usally don't start till about 10 pm or so. I like working on my car during the nite...

Well I personally dont have the knowledge nor do I know people that have the knowledge. So I wont have to fix what I did wrong I take it to a mechanic and have them do it right the first time. I have 5 kids and a wife that also takes my time..
5 kids! Whoot! Congrats! :) We've only got 2, but that's way more than enough to keep us 'busy'.
I'm sure there are a number of guys here who would be more than happy to help you out with wrenching duties. If I knew anything (I know less than nothing about them) about honda motors, I'd volunteer...

I totally agree with this statemtn. Colorado doesn't have shit for import shops. I would trust anybody here in CO to do anything to my car and I drive a 141K Integra. Does anybody know shit about dyno tuning or anything like that around here?
I'd say the only two shops i'd trust around here would be Forced Induction and maybe Importsports.

Tobi (HONDA GHANDI) has done some tuning for a few members on HAI.

My car has never been in a shop nor will it ever be left unattended in a shop to get any work done. Tobi might be putting the clutch in, but that's the extent of anybody else touching my car.
