Im in the market for a new car, my shit just aint cuttin it. Theres like 8 GS-R's at this guys lot. Im so tempted to get it but I wanna know some stuff from you guys first.

Are there special things I should look out for besides the obvious when used car shopping? Also I hear these things are shit for cruising. Like @ 70mph its running @ 3000rpms? I know its because the gearing is closer, then the LS. Making the GS-R clim to its lower top speed, quicker.....and the LS climbs to a higher top sleep, slower. Im pretty sure Im correct right?, lol.

Anyway I still have to test drive it but, I just wanted some user reviews. Im not sure if im gonna go as far as Turbo or not, Im just looking for a nice around town car, that fast, and can handle a trip every once in awhile. I also have never driven a car with VTEC before, I know, Im underprivilaged...Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

oh btw , heres a link to the Beauty! Peep the shit it has on it, and respond.

according to my calculations a GSR will go 70 mph at around 3600 rpm in 5th.

Looks like a good car. put the stock taillights back though

tezza's suck...When you goto the dealership tell them to knock off a grand for the altezza's. It looks good though. Have you had the engine checked out by a mechanic yet?

no but its got 19K on it, Im not sure if theres anything you can do to damage a Acura/Honda engine in that many miles besides not change the oil.

I know its Altezzas, Im talking about the engine here! When did this site turn into a JDM fashion show? Talking about knockin a grand off for some 90 dollar lights, gimme a break.

Can anyone share some knowledge about the engine?

i can give you knowledge about the engine...what do you want to know? B18C1 DOHC VTEC 1.8L 170hp/128lb-ft of torque, VTEC kicks at 4400 and the runners to the intake manifold switch at 5800(it sounds more like VTEC than the 4400, but 4400 is really when it kicks) Close Ratio Tranny...80MPH in 5th gear is at 4000 RPM, Redline is 8K RPM....cant really think of anything else. If you have any questions, just ask.

have the motor checked out, do a leakdown & compression test (honda stuff can do it)

if that checks out, that would be a badass ride.

imho have them knock off about 500 off the price for the tezza's. the stock 98+ taillights cost about 235 each. so with tax thats over 500 bucks to get the oem lights.

Don't get mad when people tell you to have them knock down the price, you should ALWAYS do that when buying a car. They have it marked up at LEAST $4,000, trust me, where I worked, it was $7,000. Anyway, I bet if you tell them that you don't see the Type-R body kit, (I sure as hell don't, and if it is there, jsut play dumb) then tell them that just the fact that they can't spell V-TEC correctly when it's spelled right on the engine, is a cause for concern for you. Then tell them you bet they put regular in it (because you KNOW they do), when the manual specifically says that it REQUIRES premium because of the high 10.1:1 compression ratio. Then say "no" a bunch of times during the negotiation (AFTER, you showed great interest). Then you will get yourself a nice car.

P.S. Asking what their "bottom price" is, is stupid and will never work, so don't even bother. Just let them know you want it, and say no, until they fell like they're shoving it on you.

As far as the crusing rpm's go...60mph is around 3000rpm, 70 is 3500, 80 is 4000, 90 is 4500, 100 is 5000.....you get the point. 5th gear is 20mph for every 1000 rpm. The first time I took mine on the highway it seemed very odd, but you'll get used to it.

You'll be glad to have the extra revs. My GS-R made practically NO power until 4000rpm, then it ramped up quickly from there. Similar to a 2-stroke dirt bike engine.

You don't have to worry about the gearing limiting your top speed either - redline in 5th is good for 160, but the wind will stop it at about 135 long before it runs out of revs.

Not to mention the fact that I consistently got 27 mpg out of my GSR. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. From a little research Ive been doing I guess the high revs is something GSR owners have to deal with. I just know when Im at 3000 or above when I let off the gas, 5th gear spins hard and slows you down as well as picks you up quick when you push the peddle, Im just not sure If Im ready for that. And ready for a car where it makes its real hp in Revs rather than in displacement like a Subaru would or something. I got 15 grand and want a dope car. Just time to shop around more I guess. Thanks again.

Yeah those Subaru motors are monsters. Go drive the damn thing, it's not a big deal. You'll like it a whole hell of a lot better than your Accord. Also, the reason everyone brought up the high revs is because that's the way it's made, so you don't have to worry about it.
