i cant use synthetic oil... my mechanic says it will clean out the crap inside the engine and ill start leaking... since the crud is filled between the gaps... so if i use synthetic oil ill have white smoke.. eh but i was wondering... what is recommended when using a turbo. Is synthetic better for turbo cars?

Synthetic is preferable in turbo cars since it has more thermal stability (more consistent temperature holding ability) and flows better when it's cold outside. Turbos run very hot and syn oil cools down faster than dino oil and is more resistant to "coking" on the turbo shaft and is just overall better. Synthetics widen the margin for error which is very important with turbo cars.
In older engines tho' that have run dino oil it's whole life (100k or so) you may develop leaks since synthetic doesn't really gunk up when it reaches the outside of the engine.
Example: I've spilled synthetic into little pools on my intake manifold and just never cleaned it up and several months later the oil will still be there since it is so ressitant to heat that it just acts like a "oil potpourri" and just simmers where ever it pools.

I should have added that since synthetic oil leaks are more expensive than conventional ones.
