make sure you get one with out the wiper in the hatch or get a hatch w/o the wiper (does that make sense) I was very supprised to see how much more that hatch lid weighs with the wiper but I would aggree it would be an 88 HF
It's pretty easy to just remove the wiper I think.

yeah wiper motor is held on by like three bolts and then the wiper itself is one 10mm then take it off and fill the hole. but use lightweight filler... I dont think the HF's came with the wiper, but the 84-87 CRX was lighter then the HF, but the 88-91 is easier to the swap in. I did the B16 and B18 in the 1st Gen CRX and I would hope to never do it again. Not fun...

There was a girl named Janice in the Club CRX Texas group I was in who had an 88 Hf with a B18A dropped in. It wasn't pretty (welded mounts, and the radiator had a welded hole the size of my fist in it), but it managed to run a 13.9 on street tires. If I had the video I'd post a link, but believe me I saw it. She stripped the interior pretty good, had only one seat and not much dashboard left, so the car was much lighter than stock, but if she could run a 13.9 on a stock B18A, imagine what a boosted one could do on a normal 88 Hf.
EDIT: I stand corrected, it was a 13.9 on SLICKS. Heres a link:

I dunno, I just hate working on B-series EF's. The Tranny is like 1" away from the front and rear crossmembers. I helped change a clutch on a '91 Civic hatch the other day, and getting the tranny back on was great fun.
B18A into an HF could be fun, just be sure everything is cool on that motor before you put it in :)
