I saw something last night and it got me wondering what everyone's opinions on this are...
Street racing is never "totally" safe, but I picked number two.

Yeah, that's my thinking on the matter too.

i voted never. for me it's maybe one time a month. Sure I still accelerate hard getting on the freeway or some stop lights
If i do it has to be a worthy opponent, right conditions, i'm in the mood

It happens but usually very late at night and it's usually setup. I try to avoid impromptu stop light races.

I picked number 2. I've only street raced once or twice since Bandimere shut down for the winter, but that's still more than never.

im a redlight warrior...but only when its safe, & never to an unreasonable speed. i've spend too much money on my car to wreck it in a stupid race.
i'll race anyone anywhere, even when i know i'll lose, but not to an escess of speed if its at a light.

I'll just say this, If I get next to something worth while at a red light. c5, cobra, ss etc its on and Im going to launch it!
that is if they show interest or act cocky. I would never endanger anyone or race in and out of traffic thats just gay.
one other point should be touched here.
if you wreck at 30-40 mph its gonna hurt but your goingto walk away with minor injuryand such. every 10mph increase is going to double your chance of being seriously hurt. with this in mind
stoplight battle is pretty safe if you run and let off at a reasonable speed. ricer-fly-byes are whats dangerous!

I race rarely, usually only if it's some dude in a car that looks over and grins like he's gonna kick my ass in his camaro or Vette. I'll usually work them through 1st and 2nd gear, then just let off.

#2 here also. I try to not race on the street...but sometimes I guess I just feel the need. Its all about minimizing your risk anyway right? If you go racing down 120th at 5pm with rushhour traffic and you get popped...well you more or less deserve it. But 120th at 2am? I love that road that time of night..its like a morgue. :)

If that is from a website or magazine let me know! I'm writing a paper about street racing and would like to use that fact or read that article it is from.

I might play with someone at a light, but that's it. additionally I won't even drive fast at night since I can't see well, and I can't see the popo as well either

indeed i dont usually race at night unless its some faggot racer with his girl in the car... ill do it just to embarass him....
and yes the Accord can kick some ass.
i do it when its safe and not in heavy traffic, but i never go out of my way to race someone on the street

We must be doing alright since no HAI members have been arrested for street racing or been in a accident directly related to racing.
I hope it stays this way.

I voted Never but thats cuz my car is slow and I save myself from embarrassment. IF my car was quicker I would probably do it as often as Mark and Pang do it...

I've been clocked for doing some pretty high speeds but never racing. My best (worst) was a 127 in a 55mph zone and the cop knocked it down to 80 in a 55 and said he was doing me a favor by keeping it under 30 over. It was still bad but a judge would have went ballistic with speeding 72mph over plus he could have arrested me for felony speeding.

Holy crap man! I thought I was getting no love from the OKC highway patrol for going 83 in a 55? I cant imagine them letting ANYONE off going that fast down there...they are kinda hardasses.
It wasnt a cheap ticket..but no points at least..and I didnt have to go to court...he seemed to be happy that I was from montana and not a colorado native. In car computers own you....he could see EVERY violation I've ever had..all the way back to parking tickets in high school just by swiping my license. Scary.

I've locked it up next to a cop on I-70 doing about 90 past him, and I didn't get a ticket.

I'm pretty sure it was twice for racing. His parents bought him a WRX and he went nutz with the street racing. He must have thought it was fast stock or something :D

waston why is it everytime street racing is brought up you have to mation my one on one fight with the tracker.
ok everyone sit down and i will tell you all a little story.
one night on a friday everyone meet at 7-11 like we always did we toke up about 20 car to the same spot we went to for 3 months. after one race i line up the next two and sent them on there way. and the next thing you know two big ass lights came out of nowhere. so the two car filp a bi*ch and hall ass back towards us. the next thing i know there is a big ass front-end loader right in front of my car with his shovle underneth the front end of my car lifting it up in the air.so i hope in slam in reverise. spin the car around and take off. i stop a little back to make sure everyone is gone when i see a kid and his 93 RX7. the kid is lieing on the hood while the guy has his shovle in the air about to drop it on the hood. and i hear the kid say. "i have know reverise...i have no reverise" so the guy back down and the kid get away when the sob comes after me agin. it was one crazy night. needless to say we never went back there. my guess is he live somewhere around where we raced.
sorry for all the miss spells i'm doing this one hand.
My little brother knows some tool with a 93 RX-7 that has no reverse. He's some new driver that doesn't even know how to drive. I think his name is Daniel or something. Was it black or dark green or something?

Just wanna hear some feedback on how you do it.

I only race with my friends, almost never with a random person on the street, and my car is not exactly a race car.

i picked anytime anywhere, but i guess thats kinda not true cuz i only race when the roads are pretty much empty in front of me, and i dont really do red light racing, its more of a i see a nice car and hope i get a red light with it racing.

I go down to the street races and race whenever other people are up to it. the only time I rece people at the lights are if they look at me funny and make it look like they are goin to launch....at the lights though when it turns green i usually let the other guy go a lil sooner just to see if he is actually goin to race and if he does they i bang it.

it is always fun to race any time any where and it sure does put a smile on my face. but you always have to be cuatious no matter what. I will not be getting my license until the begining(sorry might be misspelled) of 2006 because I let my guard down and because I have a really bad luck chain happening and all, damn mother fuckin pigs!! :)

i race people at lights whenever the opportunity presents itself, that is not very much seeing as im a girl driving a jetta. also i live way out in the country, so the racing we do is far away from any cars and any sort of civilization. i dont like doing organzied racing as much because you're so much more likely to get caught...

damn mother fuckin pigs!! :)Take responsibility for your actions, it wasnt the cops fault you were street racing, he's doing his job and upholding the law, that you broke.
