I need to find out how to wire a Zex remote bottle opener?
The unit has two wires. When connected to a 12V source it either open or closes the bottle, when the polarity is reversed it does the opposite.
Now I need help in wiring the unit. What kind of switch is needed? I have seen a few switches where the center is off, and up arrow /\ is to open the bottle and the down \/ arrow is used to close the bottle.
Below is a pic of the actual unit at my house and the switch that Zex supplies (circled in red).
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

i'm not positive about a zex bottle opener, but the one Canuck is using it looks just like the zex and he just has a simple on/off switch.
the switch you described has 2 'on' positions, which means you can switch between 2 circuits you want to complete. Since it sounds like the opener automatically changes which direction it operates than I think you just need a simple on/off switch.

James thanks but that shows nothing for the wiring.
CSMsi311 a simple on/off switch just has two terminals and all it does it connect the circut. This will only allow me to open or close the bottle.
Anyone else?

Ok, i read and reread. Your asking what wires go to what. correct?
9. Cut the red and black wires 10 inches from the motor. Install one rubber seal over each end of the wires. On the two motor wire leads, crimp on male weather pack terminals. On the remaining two wires that lead to the switch, crimp on female weather pack terminals. (fig. F)
10. Open the weather pack connector housings and insert the appropriate terminals into the correct female or male housing until they lock into place
red and black coming from the motor - Put "Weather pack" terminals on them.
On other wires. they go to the switch.

I found the wiring at http://www.nitrousexpress.com/installation/switchpanelinstall.pdf
Here is how the wiring goes. The "x" goes to the two wires for the bottle opener.

ok, i see. i was thinking the opener reversed the polarity automatically then you would have only needed a simple switch to close the circuit each time.

I would contact ZEX. if it doesn't have an auto reverse. they you will need a DPST (Double Pull Single Through) switch (i think thats what it was). Rocker switch that goes 1 direction each way from center.

DPDT- Double pole double throw is what you need. Radio snack should have them.
Tobi is right, that is how you say it. Don't come to my store, I never have anything in stock, but if I did, a 25% employee discount would be coming your way.
