View Full Version : Who has a fast car here?

:D Ok, I'll define fast to be 11 sec. quarters or faster. Who has an 11 sec. capable car and what is it? I'm just curious, not trying to start a war here........:D

by your name I would assume you have a mustang twin turbo. I don't have a "fast" car

Yes, but I'm not trying to be some mustang dickhead. I generally like imports, just not ricers. Some cars/vehicles I've owned:
90 Eclipse GSX
92 Honda CBR 600
88 Mazda 626 Turbo
85 Dodge Omni GLH turbo (Ok, it's not an import, but it's a 4cyl!)

Other people do, lol. I don't have a digital camera. Some people over at COSR took some pics and video of my car when I dynoed it, but I never really got to see them. I'll see what I can dig up.

I am having a moral dilema here..trying to decide if you are just trolling or not..I know the decision in my head..so here is the canned response.

"We have lots of racers here with a lot of different cars...some much faster than others...I guess you'll just have to come out to the track and see this season."

Sounds like you have a trust issue. Not all mustang drivers are mullet wearing, Kentucky-bluegrass singing, confederate flag waving rednecks. I've been known to hang out with many import guys in Fort Collins. Also, I think my next project will be a Supra, but building imports requires plenty of money no matter how you look at it.

good point. I'm glad that you are not the red-neck, conferate flag waving hick. When I graduate hopefully I'll have a project car but it will probably be built for autocross and not drag.

When have a timeslip page on the top tool bar. not sure if it works though

Hey TT5.0 do you live in Fort Collins?

TT5.0 has apparently been browsing the board for a while. If he was just some troll looking for a fight he would have done so a long time ago.

TT5.0 Are you going to go to the Clement Park meet? My cousin has wet dreams of building a car just like yours and I'm sure he would like to see it in person.

I haven't seen the thread on that. Where is Clement Park? I assume Denver somewhere. My car doesn't leave the Fort Collins area really. The farthest I will drive it is Longmont. I need some more money to make it more street friendly, I'm afraid of breaking something far from home. It dynoed 502 hp at the rear wheels and I still have stock tranny, axles, suspension, etc.

w00dr0w,
I will be out this Saturday night in Ft. Collins. My car is black and black primer, with an aftermarket hood/hood pins. If you see me, say something. What do you drive?

On Saturday I'm going to watch the North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey team play the Denver Pioneers. <--I'm originally from ND.

I drive a EBP Si, with steelies and a car seat inside. lowered, i/h/e, no stickers. Don't hate. It's slow and I know it. I'm not trying to be fast but I have fun with it.

Sorry if I came off that way. If you read COSR at all you'd know why I tend to not be so friendly to Mustang owners as of late..I thought maybe one of them came over to harass me here too. I respect fast cars..I certainly wont be running times in the realm of what you mention...but I dont pretend my car is a "race car" either.

Most of the guys/gals on this site race their daily driven streetable FWD cars. Certainly not many of us near the 11's. I do have a good friend with a 5s jet dragster that I really want to see run at Bandi...hrmm...

Ha ha, what a question. Well, I loved my AWD DSM, I still miss it. I used to be the craziest asshole in the snow with that car, nothing like the feeling of perfectly controlled drifting, and if you get out of shape, all you have to do is let go of the steering wheel and it would straighten right out. The mustang however is mean, loud and accelerates in a straight line so fast it feels like it will pull your face off. When I had my DSM, I missed doing smoky burnouts. When I had the mustang, I missed the AWD launches. So, I would have to say that I prefer the mustang to drag race in, and school vipers and porsches with, but I would prefer the DSM as an every day driver to drive to work and school in, and still have fun while doing it. Does that answer your question?:D

Well if John hadn't sold his 700+ crankhorse Supra then he could chime in since it ran low 11s on drag radials.
It's new owner down in Arizona recently did a few more mods (I think they were a compressor upgrade and more boost) and dynoed over 700 to the wheels.

I used to be fast, now I'm just pissy. Last car was a single turbo supra which ran 11.9 @ 126 and 11.4 @ 123 on street tires. Now I'm driving a stock '98 audi a4, and have pretty much given up on big HP cars.

By your definition of fast (yes, 11's are fast), I'm not. But I do have fun at the strip, where most of the 'stangs I line up against think they are fast, but aren't as fast as me. Of course they are mostly stock, with "IHE", but it sure is fun to shut them down with a straight 6.

I am no where near 11's. but then again i am allways buying go fast goodies. so i will be hopefully 12's soon when all said and done. which is pretty impressive for a FWD Family grocery go getter :)

I was going to be all set to run 11's this season. Last season I ran a 12.43 in my integra untuned. I was going to sleeve another block, buy a larger turbo, spray some N20 and tune it on a chasis dyno butttttt.....

My car was stolen on 12/27/02.

Sooo, I bought a snatchback and will try to go through the process with it. I did all my turbo equations the other night and found that the most effient turbo for what I want to do is going to be a T04E "50 trim" 11's for sure, but I'd really like to hit a 10.99. A lot of work has to be done before July when I'm looking to do all this. I got the car a couple weeks ago, and I'm putting a temporary DOHC B18C1 in there while I send my Type R block out to get sleeved.

So anyway, yeah. I'll be there in a few months, so be patient :)

exciv2000
02-14-2003, 12:29 PM
eh, you better do more than sleeve that block. Type-R pistons and rods are weaksauce in comparison to some hefty built ones. You'd rather do it right the first time right?

I used to run a twin turbo but have since converted to a single T70. I dropped the compression down to about 7.8:1 and am running the usual assortment of aftermarket heads, intake and cam. It's just now getting out on the road. As it sits I'm seeing about 18psi on pump gas. That will increase in the future.

one of the guys at my speed shop i go to goes down down to pmi with a guy with a black twin turbo 5.0. every time he launched and shifted once he would rip the intercooler pipe from the intercooler. that thing was all over the place. he would shift and the front tire would lift like a foot of the ground, just one tire. mad tweek with out sub frame connectors and a roll bar. it was solid gloss black. sounds like a real fast car tt5.0!

john
04-03-2003, 12:07 PM
I used to own a fast car - it went 11.9 @ 126 and 11.4 @ 123 on street tires and 25psi. With slicks and 30psi I was pretty confident that it'd be in the mid 10s.

Now I owns a slow, 4door family sedan. :)

I am not fast.. But I am getting faster. This summers project:

* Comp HL cam (in my hand)
* LS1 Springs/Retainers (in my hand)
* 1 peice oil restrictive pushrods (in my hand)
* New Ceramic coated pistons (stock pistons)
* Ported Heads
* 5way angled vavle job

that should atleast make me a little quicker :)
