View Full Version : AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator fixed my problems!

Today I installed in AEM FPR on the car and it solved my problem with my fuel pressure. I was running way to rich with my Walbro Fuel Pump and the B&M FPR could not tune it down. The fuel pressure would stay at 40-43 psi, then when you hit WOT it would not raise the pressure like it should.
I installed the AEM and cranked up the car, adjusted the fuel pressure down to about 38psi and hit WOT... It raised up 5psi like it should!
Look like I will be getting this thing tuned real soon! :D
The AEM Regulator is a very nice piece to have. If you guys need one I can hook you up ;)

I have one but it will not fit on my fuel rail what with the JR intake manifold in the way. I might need one of those adapters that twists the FPR off at an angle, can you get me one of those for the EX?

Scott, I tried looking up that part but I dont see it listed anywhere. Do you know if AEM makes that? If you can find a part number that would help alot because I do not see anything listed.
Doesn't the JRSC kit come with that so the regualtor will fit?

I'm not sure if AEM or JR makes that, but my guess is that it's JR.

I got mine fired up this weekend (universal unit 25-302). It's a nice unit - fuel pressure solid with manifold vacuum - I don't expect any issues with flow capacity with the adjustable bypass port (running the medium sized one). I wish I'd known about the $149, I paid $161, it was the cheapest price I could find at the time.

Not really, but you never know till you put it on the car and try it out. I've heard of people saying that it's a piece of junk and that it leaks and all that kind of stuff, guess they just put theirs on backwards :)

i had one that looked like an AEM on my car, and it leaked through the gauge setup, then the main body . i finally chucked it for the fmu from jacksons racing(set real low)
does AEM put their logo on the regulator?
mine looked like the AEM style, but there was no logo on it. :o

My regulator came with the logo on the side. How did you know it was leaking?

well the fuel smell was a dead givaway, i just saw the outer casing starting to leak , but before that i saw the gauge filling up with fuel when i started it up, so i took the gauge off, then the body leaked,i tightened the allen plugs, it stopped for 1 day then leaked again, so i made a gasket for the body(fuel resistant)that lasted another day, it leaked again, so i gave it to a buddy and went with the fmu.
it probably wasnt an AEM,just a lookalike..

Thanks, just making reference just in case I have any problems. I would think if you had a bad regualtor that AEM produced they would stand behind their product. I guess it could have been a look a like or maybe a older one...
It looks like they test the product before the send them out cause it was capped off on both ends and was just a tad bit a pressure in it, nothing big.

i have their fuel rail, which i bought new, and not one single problem(that wasnt my fault)with it. so i think i just picked up one those imitations.. i got it for free,so it was no big deal anyway.
i doubt you'll have the same problems. AEM makes a really good product and would stand behind the warranty as well

Hmmm this is so damn FUNNY since I have an AEM fuel rail , AEM regualtor, and all my other mods preparing for my SC, or TC, and alot of the board members said that Im wasting my money now I see that alot of others have the same thing. So DAMNED them all....

As the way your car sits right now that stuff would not really make much of a difference in performance... The fuel rail is not really needed but would help if you needed to push alot more fuel, the regualtor would be nice for fine tuning but again not really needed on a nearly stock motor.
Since you plan on boosting then these items will help when you get there. I needed the regualtor since the fuel pump I have is pushing way too much fuel for my motor. I went for an aftermarket pump since my stock one was done. So I had to buy a real regualtor to handle the fuel pressure to turn in down, the B&M couldn't do that since it uses basically the stock reguator.
Good luck in boosting the Lude! It's your money... at least your not buying APC Taillights and a Neon Underbody Kit :)

He already has a neon underbody kit. But it's broken right now. I like the fifth generation style.

I think the rail is overkill for any car making less than about 600whp (the stock one will work fine), but the regulator is a nice part. An adjustable regulator is mandatory for a FI car with fuel pump and injector upgrades, a lof of people don't like the AEM though because it's expensive.

And see the differance betwwen me and the " kids who found out later that you threw it away"
1. My Mechanic has morals and a SHOP.
2. I check my NEON lights prior to dropping it off and picking it up.
3. Im a full grown man with COMMON SENSE (NOT A STUPID ASS KID THAT WOULD ALLOW THAT).
4. I know several Civil Attorneys that love to SUE.

when i mean used car inpection, i mean a car that was traded in to the dealer for resale.. not a customer,i would never do that to a customer.. that's all
if you want and like neons on your car, then that is strictly your perogative, and none of my business..

look i realize now that i may have offended you, which i dint mean to.
i apologize for that.:(
i was simply expressing my opinion and was telling about an experience i had.
yes i'm a certified master technician as well.but i specialize in hondas. but sometimes we get to work on used car trade ins. which means just about anything with 4 wheels worth reselling
i have worked on mercedes, toyota, chevy, isuzu, and mitsubishi.
this is just in the last 9 days.
as far as i'm concerned it pays the bills and i'm open minded enough to learn more about the other makes.
