Over the weekend, i went up to Loveland and built my front mount intercooler with Mark(o1itr#700). Let me just say, mark did a great job with the piping and fitment. On saturday, we started unbolting all of the stock piping and stock core but we had trouble mounting the new big ass front mount so we couldn't get to the welder in time so we had to extend the project to today. The welder that mark uses was top notch, the welds are aswome and everything came out buetifully. Upon installing the new intercooler and piping, we added the turboxs RFL bov which sounds bad ass and seems to perform perfectly. We took all the pics with Shane's camara and they don't have an internet connection at their house so the pics won't be up till tommorrow when shane or mark post them at work. One of the cuplers has been poping off under full throtle at high boost so i need to run to the hardware store tommorrow and get a better bracket and really get the sucker on there tight. All and all Mark and I are very happy with the way the project came out and the pics should be posted tommorrow sometime. Also, Mark will start making a front mount kit for 1.8t's so brian, brandon, steve, ect. you better look into this one.

Thanx again Mark!

I have yet to get on it all the way because of the one cupler that keeps poping off and we are using a "ghetto" 2 to 2.5" transition cupler that is made of rubber and not designed for high heat or boost for that matter. I'm ordering a good one tommorrow so one i get that straighten out i'll let you know. i got on it one time with mark and shane in the car and it spun through 1st, spun through second untill the cupler blew and we shut down.

BTW, mark, the cupler that keeps poping off is the one behind the splash gaurd.

here are a few more pics. As for the couplers poping off. when we pull off the piping for powder coating we can add a Lip/bead weld and that should keep them from blowing off. and if need be get some T-Bolt clamps on there for a little extra clamping power.

All the piping is 2.5" mandrel bent. Some of the stock piping is close to 2.0-2.25".

oh I almost forgot, can you still put your side vents in tyler or is the piping sticking out too far? I know this will be a concern for most of the vw community. ive also heard the gti bumber is slightly smaller than the jetta, so i wonder what it will look like on a gti. maybe well find out when brian gets his

I'm not sure about the GTI/Jetta differences as far as the bumper goes, hopefully it's not any/much different. You'll most likely have to kiss those side vents goodbye. I physically cannot see how you can retain them with our FMIC. Hopefully we'll be hooking up Brian's GTI soon possibly:):)

order one form the site mark refered you to. until then just get a homedepot special again and stay out of boost. maybe try wraping it with some duct tape for some extra "strenth" untill you get a good one.

I am REALLY looking forward to running with the 'dubs this season. You guys are just gonna get faster, just like the WRXs.

;RoCkOn;

And Ryan (owner of the yellow air-cooled drag beetle) was running low 12's last season N/A, will be getting a turbo and probably converting to alcohol, will easily hit 11's. :D

yep, i cant wait for this season. the stock turbo will be the weak point in my setup but i should still break into the 13's.
There are some sick aircooled bugs around. last year at the vw event at bandimere there were about 5-6 bugs that ran low 10's and the fastest i heard ran a 9.5. those things can launch with the rwd and the engine in the back....
