View Full Version : Has anyone boosted an infinity g35/g37? And if so,
What are your questions, exactly? Moe/Justin/Jeff have all owned boosted 350Z's. I don't know of any boosted G35/G37's, though.

Just saw a boosted G35 run a 12.0 @ ~119 at Bandimere tonight. Making some power...

All the general questions about boosting an N/A car.
Speaking solely off of talking to the names I mentioned earlier, they are capable of about 8-11 psi bone stock on a Greedy TT ballbearing kit. Transmissions don't like the torque, and its a bit of a squeeze. Easy to make power out of though.

So I guess this means you are tiring of your LGT?
You're still my hero, nonetheless.
The LGT is a fun car, and I'm not ready to get rid of it yet. I've more or less already decided on my next car, and if a deal comes up that's too good to pass on I'll probably jump on it.

Can't wait to see what you do with the next one. Sans the Audi, you have a history of creating some of the most badass, yet reliable cars. Cheers, my friend.

Call Speed Image since they've done quite a bit of turbo installs, engine builds and tuning on 350Zs.

The VQ makes tons of power pretty darn easily. 11.6# wastegate springs on the 18G greddy kit with stock motor & nismo cam made a reliable 510 whp & tq. Pretty much ate up any car on the street that I came across lol.
My experience with the VQ has been positive and I never had a motor issue and wasn't afraid to tell the tuner to crank up the boost and power. The first one was high mileage and handled it like a champ. Even after handing it off to Moe and him dragging it and running it even harder than I did it held. All in the tune and not going beyond the supporting mods capability. It's not a cheap car to get into however whether it's a G or Z. The prices have not gone down and in some cases went up. TT kit is easily 6+ grand, and installed with supporting mods your looking 10-14k depending on how you roll, add on another 5 for a built motor, but there the real fun begins.
I'd recommend:
*Greddy TT kit 18G or 20G (keep in mind 20g is laggier but will put up some serious #'s)
*Stage 2 cam (BC, JWT, or even a nismo stage 1)
*HR oil pump
*Phunk return fuel system with 600+cc injectors
*Haltech EMS (bastard is sweet but pricey at like $1600 and user tuneable)
*Good clutch (comptech clutch held up fine to the power, least till Moe drove it)
There is a huge aftermarket for it, and just seems to keep growing, you could pretty much go all GTM if you wanted like Jeff's setup, they make sweet kits and all the supporting mods short of a clutch i think. But i really like Greddy kits for the Z/G, it may look cheap and dated, but it's like a russian power house, it just doesn't fuck around. Even the whimpy looking 18G kit makes serious power and isnt laggy, where as it's big brother will make you shit your pants, but you had a Supra so you know what thats all about.
The drivetrain is pretty stout to, the open diff I never heard of breaking, half axles, well you have Level 5 Half Axles you can upgrade to if your gonna drag strip launch. The tranny, if you go with a replaced TD09 (if your car doesnt have on already) that should be the way to go. I havent heard of any big issues with TD09 trannies with major power either, but I'm sure there's a limit somewhere in the system but if your around 6-700 I wouldnt expect to be dropping a gear.
What are your specific questions?
I'd recommend doing a leakdown and compression test before bothering strapping a FI kit on it. There's also other options out ther eas well than just TT kits, you got Power Lab single kits that run GT35/37/42R's etc. It's generally pretty safe to run 9psi on the stock block with a good tune.
Nice - thanks Juztin.
Hung - I live in Wisconsin now, so Moe can't help a brother out much. :)
Richard - thanks broham. :D :D

ah your lucky! You may want to check out Sound Performance a state down from you, they make some serious TT kits for the Z/G but I wouldnt doubt they could do more normal boost work haha.

Justin you should hurry up with my next car...
I'm familiar with SP - they were one of the more respected aftermarket vendors when I was modding the Supra. Thanks again - I appreciate the insight.
You had a Supra, John?
