The JDM motor is the same except for a few details but mods all fit the same.

Definetly hook up some time with me,I'm thinking of doing a JDM swap and doing a proper rebuild on the motor that's in the car now but it's only got 113k on it but it does eat a bit of oil. If it gets worse after this season I'll be doing the EVO swap in about a year and then see how far that takes me.

ok i know you will say go all wheel drive but i had a non turbo and put this evo motor in and went with a front wheel drive. there is no space under the car for me to put the all wheel drive tranny in. how much power do you think i am going to lose. 270hp 224 ft/lbs stock going to 4 wheels. how much do you think i will lose on just two

I'd be more worried about losing traction than power. is there space for LSD? that's be the next best tihng under the circumstances... unless you do a rear engine mount.

I dont think there is any room for that. also traction is a bitch. not much there with the power, but limited slip is a pretty sure no.

I doubt you have an evo motor. It's probably a Japanese Galant VR4 motor.

found this on Road RAce Engineering's site

EVO Motors: The valve covers of the EVO 1-3 motors will be a kind of titanium color. They are the same as a US 2G motor with nothing fancy. They have the smaller 2G style intake ports, a small runner intake manifold with a larger plenum and a larger throttle body than a 2G motor. Still they are hard to find. Many are from other 4G63 powered cars and can have small 13G sized turbos. They will not bolt into a 1G because there are no provisions for the front roll stopper motor mounts that bolt to the block. Everything in Japan from 94 and up has the front and rear roll stopper motor mounts on the transmission 2G Eclipse style. Many people are running around yapping about how they have an EVO motor in their car. If it bolts into a 1G, it isn't an EVO motor.

i know it is an evo motor and yes there is a difference in hp. the turbo us model is about 190-210 horse and the evo is 250-280 depending on the model

So what turbo are you gonna use to get that kind of hp??

16g, 18g??

darktaln

i am really not sure. it is a 4g63 evo 2 motor. whatever turbo came on it is what i got. i have 260 hp on the motor. i am not really sure what the turbo is

Look on the front of the turbo and post here what it says.

Oh and if you have a 1G, it won't work just as it says above. And what color are your injectors?

3000!!! wasnt that a used engine? if so I'd say you got a darn good deal.....

we just bought a new short block for $2000, 1G 7 bolt, 1g big rods, and wesico 8.8:1 pistons....

darktaln

yeah well i got the motor from a guy in california for 3200 and that was the front clip. so i got a good deal and only lost 200 so thats cool. but i still have the evo front end, just nothin in it.

right hand drive too! but there would be a shit load of fabrication to go along with a project like that. i looked into for my 2g talon. but it may be a little easier on a 1g.
