Whenever I choose a video to play with Windows Media Player 11 (laptop came pre-loaded with it), the video will start playing just fine.

When I go and "seek" to a particular part of that video, it will momentarily pause and then the audio will skip to the part of the video I've selected.

BUT...

The video will begin to fast forward from the point it was at before I moved the seek bar. It will fast forward for a while and than the video will freeze.

The audio will continue to play, but the video doesn't recover.

Vista 64 bit HP OS BTW. 60-70Mb AVI or MPEG4 files.

I've been searching through Microsofts support pages for any clues but I haven't found anything as of yet. I may just have to go with Winamp or other.

Have you done a windows update?

If that doesn't work say F it and WINamp FTW>

Haven't tried any updates. I'm currently seeking any that pertain to these problems.

I've been looking at WinAmp and apparently the newest version will work on Vista, but it will have a few issues.

I don't think these issues are as big a problem as the ones I'm having with WMP 11, so I may just take WinAmp with me and if I can't find a solution in updates for WMP 11, than I'll go ahead with WinAmp and see how it goes. Sure does look appealing.

Have any codecs installed? Could be rogue codecs.
