It was rough... but I finally won. Couple cans of bug spray and a bug bomb FTMFW! Little bastids did not know who they were F*'n with!

A couple years ago when my brother wrecked his car in some field in parker, I was bitten by a black widow on my waist. Sucked big time for about a week, felt like I was constantly clenching my stomach but I actually had no control over it.

I chose not to get antivenom when I found out that they use the same treatment for black widows as they do for rattlesnakes. Once your treated for one, you can't be treated for the other. Ever. The odds of dying from a rattlesnake are greater, so I waited.

From everything I read, if you get bitten and your neck starts to hurt, or you start to have spasms, go to the hospital. Should happen at the 4-6 hour mark or so, IIRC. If it doesn't, you either have a good immune system or you didn't get that much venom.

That picture on the internet of the guys hand is a chop. It doesn't get that bad even without treatment.

Black widows can kill you, brown recluses can scar you. Remember the difference.

Camel spiders aren't so bad - but the 1st time you're exposed to them --- especially the bigger ones that are about dinner plate size it's scary as hell. When I was flying missions in Saudi Arabia they would "chase" us. Well - later we found out that actually they are just hot as fuck and wanted to stay inside of your shadow --- so imagine walking and have a few of them behind you --- LMAO! Americans or so dumb. The natives would just laugh, although they can leap a good distance as well and you definitely don't want them to take a bite outta you.

As far as the internet photo being a chop --- I'm not so sure I agree. The people that are allergic to bee stings -- if you have ever seen how extreme their bodies react to it, VS the average Joe it's night and day. DEFINITTELY not just an inconvenience. My cousin is SO allergic to ants that she almost dies when she gets the simplest bite... and it'd look like she got into a finger fight w/ a garbage disposal while us other kids would have a simple bump.

My mom just about died when she got bit by a brown recluse 4-5 years ago down in TX. She went into cardiac arrest about 2 hours afterwards and they almost didn't save her, pretty scary.

Spiders are pretty much the only bug or animal that bother me. I can trace my fear of spiders all the way back to watching arachnaphobia the movie as a kid, then having my older sister hide rubber spiders in my bed. That's pretty fucked up now that I think about it
