LOL @ Republican propaganda

I'm sorry to say that I used to be a registered Republican... Turns out that I support traditional Republican principals, but the so-called "Republicans" in office don't. Now I'm an independent, because the Democrats disgust me too.

Why can't somebody post some bi-partisan information instead of just showingf one side and this goes for Dems too. It's hard to make a real desicion when things (like the info above) is so slanted.

You can make a list of pro-Obam stuff too to make McCain look bad but overall it would just mean the same as what was posted above which means little if you don't have both sides of the debate.

I dont know about the rest of you, but the items posted above are MAJOR reasons why I WONT be voting for Obama.

I consider myself independant as well, but I will not be voting that way. Id rather vote for the candidate I would rather see in office then an independant who has no chance of making it into office. I dont want my voting for someone not in the immediate runnings to cause the person I absolutely DONT want in office to win.

Bottom line, I dont see what you're saying when you talk about the first post being swayed in a particular direction. Do you not see the two columns showing both sides?? DERP!

I can barely afford the way things are ATM, and if Obama gets into office, myself along with MILLIONS of other Americans will be up a creek HE threw us in, with no rope to grab ahold of, or paddle to get us out.

Vote Obama, and watch him distroy America through taxes! YAY!

YAY!

To be honest I wouldnt go by everything above... because some of it isnt true...

Learn the facts then make a decision based on policy not how well your canidate looks on TV.

Dems are KNOWN to want to raise taxes.....thats just how it works.

Obama right now, is saying similar things to Clinton: "Im going to cut taxes for middle class America" which is one of the main reason Clinton got so many votes, IMO

Bet you anything, within the first two weeks he's in office (god forbid he gets elected) he will realize that it cant be done, just as Clinton did.

Keep in mind that the above chart is extremely biased and intentionally misleading. I'm not too worried about taxes under Obama... I'm far more concerned about McCain continuing this horrible economic policy which is making the value of the dollar plummet. It wont matter how many dollars McCain lets me keep when our money is longer worth anything.

The only thing I believe in the above chart is the repeated use of "(no change)" in reference to McCain. I can't see him being much different than a 3rd term of Bush, except that he's better at speaking.

So what in Obama's economic policy are you referring to that is better?

Obama wants to tax every hurting market we have...

The dividend and equity taxes hit home to every american retiring in the next 8 years... and every american who bought a house and is trying to get out of it.

Looking back on things, the Clinton years weren't bad... the housing market was healthy (my parents bought a decent new house for $133k, then sold it for $205k a few years later), our dollar was actually worth something, $1.75/gal gasoline was "expensive", we weren't in the middle of needless wars, and our budget was relatively close to being balanced. Sure, he did some things that I don't agree with, but you can say that about any politician, even Ron Paul (whom I have a great deal of respect and support for).

I liked when Bush cut taxes, but then he also increased spending by huge amounts and printed money out of thin air to make up the difference. A horribly unbalanced budget like that may be popular with people at first, but it always comes back to bite us. As a result, our money isn't worth so much anymore, and the price of everything has gone up to compensate for that, but wages haven't. That's a large part of the reason that gasoline is around $4/gal... the price of oil versus stable things like gold hasn't really changed much, it's just that a US Dollar is now much less capable of buying either because it's value has become so diluted.

Sometimes we're better off paying a little more taxes... as Bush has shown us, you get what you pay for. The next President is either going to have a lot of damage to undo (Obama), or will just neglect it and let things continue to turn to shit (McCain).

Because that would be too logical in this day and age of rumor and innuendo.

All of this "information" is massaged/edited/made up for the singular purpose of clouding the issues and keeping the lies alive.

Obama hasnt talked of fixing that though.. he is taxing more to pay for his ideas...

McCain "says" he will cut spending...

I mean you take both at face value... But McCain has gone against Bush no matter what you want to say about it.

I can see the war being a major money saver... but the fact is. Both have said the same thing on pulling troops out.

LIE 5:
NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes. New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and new taxes to pay for socialized medicine.
TRUTH:
NOWHERE in your sources nor anywhere I found was able to perpetuate any of these claims. The only statement with even a shred of truth I was able to find was:

New taxes on natural resources: BOTH candidates intend to impose large costs to COMPANIES burning coal, oil or gas as a way to reduce carbon emissions and stimulate the growth of alternative energy. Nowhere was it seen that either candidate would tax water, electricity, etc.

I challenge you to provide clear and credible sources to backup your claims of any of these statements.

Furthermore, I find it hilarious that the "sources" you cited, though are indeed credible sources, contain no information to back up your data. In fact, many sources work against your claims.

As I'm at work and have spent enough time on this, I need to go get some work done. I'll gladly PROPERLY cite my sources for my information when I have a break tomorrow.

Dividend/Capital Gains Tax Plan Sources:

LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/front/la-na-taxplans21-2008aug21,0,5324692.story?page=2)
"...Obama would raise the highest rate on dividends and capital gains from 15% to 20%. And he would keep the estate tax in the same form approved by Congress for 2009, with an exemption for the first $3.5 million and a top tax rate of 45%. That would mean a higher tax rate on the wealthy than McCain would allow."

Reuters (http://www.newsmeat.com/news/meat.php?articleId=30548297&channelId=2951&buyerId=newsmeatcom&buid=3281)
"Barack Obama's presidential campaign said Thursday a potential hike in payroll taxes for wealthy Americans under an Obama administration would not occur for 10 years while taxes on dividends and capital gains would be capped at 20 percent."

Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121876400087343173.html?mod=googlenews_wsj)
"Sen. Obama outlined a plan Thursday to raise tax rates on capital gains and dividend income from 15% to 20% for individuals and families making more than $200,000 and $250,000, respectively."

MSNBC (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/14/1267160.aspx)
"The wall Street Journal op-ed included, for the first time, specific details on capital gains and dividend rates that Obama proposes for these families. The top capital-gains rate would be 20% and the tax rate on dividends would also be 20%."

Baltimore Sun (http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/business/hancock/blog/2008/08/obama_team_give_us_credit_for.html)
"The Obama campaign, which will eliminate Mr Bush's tax cuts for those earning more than $250,000 and raise the dividend and capital gains tax from 15 per cent to 20 per cent, allege that Mr McCain is focusing purely on tearing down Mr Obama's economic platform."

Note: all emphasis mine.

Thats enough on that topic I believe. Time to hit downtown though, i'll cite the rest tomorrow when it's slow at work. I believe that's more than enough credible sources, and I highly doubt that said sources would allow something like that to be printed without adequate fact checking.

I don't doubt that Obama will raise taxes on the wealthy. It's an ideological difference, Obama has socialist ideals. People saying he will raise taxes on everyone are mostly full of BS.

However, it's very likely he will put an end to Bush's tax cuts entirely, which I know most people on this forum benefited from. Secondly, raising taxes in the wealthy trickles down just like cutting taxes on the wealthy, it will still have adverse effects on the middle class.
