I have a '81 Yamaha XS650. It's almost a classic. Has pretty good power for a small twin cruiser, but is geared so low, I can hardley take it on the highway. Oh well, It's still wind in my face and an unobstructed view. I'm currently lusting for a Ducati Monster. I like hogs and I've ridden my Dad's Road King and Police Ultra, but they are archaic compared to most other forms of two-wheeled transportation.

I try to be as careful as I can, but it's easy to let your cautious side slip away from you when you are out riding. I really never think about the reprecussions of riding dangerously though...........Sorry about your uncle though, I never llike to hear those kind of stories. Motorcycles are one passion that I do have though. Since I have been riding it is some of the most fun I have ever had and I would never give it up for anything. I also think that anyone who steers away from them because they're "too dangerous" are just totally missing out. It is one experience, in my opinion, that cannot be duplicated in another way.....Sure cars can be fast, but nothing parallels 140-150 mile blast then being able to put your knees down in the turns;) Now that is FUN!

Just have to realiz that you have a responsability every time you get on a bike. It takes more focus to pilot a bike than a car, so you have to pay attention.
But you definitely have to live. Reminds me of the song Drive by Incubus "...can't let the fear take the wheel and steer"

yeah i don't mean don't ride your bike cuz its dangerous. I just mean be cautious, thats your all just human and remember that shit can happen. So just to not get careless. But anywayz... when you gonan take me for a ride??? ;)

Girliegirl sol: It's nice to see that you care enough, and have enough balls, to tell the guys to be careful. My uncle was recently T-boned on his Road King with out a helmut. We would always talk about wearing helmuts, but he never listened. When the truck hit them (right at 44 and Kipling) him and his girlfriend slid face first into the curb going about +/- 40 mph. She ended up with a broken face and is a different person now.

They don't ride motorcycles anymore.

Its not that I have balls to tell them i feel that way everytime I see people fucking around on their bikes thinking their soo bad ass, i wonder if they know what they'll be putting their families through when they have to identify them at the morgue. I'm sorry about your uncle, but he got lucky. Glad he learned from it.

My uncle is the same way, he doesn't ride motorcycles anymore, he used to race a 900 and went into a wall at about 40 when the bike in front of him spilled oil on the track. :(

Please you guys think you get lectured, just think how I feel, a girl on a bike. But now that I've seen all these nice bike, really nice bikes, I wantto ride mine.:( Too bad it's like 30 degrees out. I'm addicted to that thing, I will never give it up for anyone, anything.... There is no feeling like being on a motorcycle, especially a very fast motorcycle. Tight turns when you are leaning so far over you are looking at the pavement, what a rush, and I've only been riding since the end of June, I can't wait until spriing........

But nice bikes everyone

He's a sick rider, only rode with him once and it was the first time I wore the sides of my tires, no choice when you're following someone into a 90 degree turn around 70 mph or so, I think my heart was right about in my throat. He jumps medians at like 50 mph, he scares me the way he rides, he's just nuts, wheelies at 120 mph down the parkway, yah, I don't get on the back of his bike either...

That's one of the things I love about my bike, only 365 lbs. I can pick it up on pavement, not that I would like to drop it, but you know what I mean. I almost dropped it down when I first got it because I'd never been on a bike other then the ones in the class which were 150's, big difference. Anyway, it was almost completely sideways and I managed to lift it back up. When the tank is low it's even better :D

I'm all for the smaller class. Most people go for the biggest displacement, which is a mistake because it messes up the balance. Theres more to a bike than horsepower and straightline performance.

I like sporty and fast, that is why I got the bike I did, please my father rides a fat boy... When he saw my bike, his reaction was "please tell me you rented that". He's cool though, he actually rode it, he only made it like 2 miles because he said it hurt his back. He said I can take out the harley, I'm just not a harley chick. I rode on the back of it once, I'll take a pic and post it, you would probably like it, it's all chromed out. Anyway, I felt things vibrating I didn't know could vibrate. My feet even went numb, damn pipes he has on that thing :D He keeps asking to "take my car" one day, now that's where I draw the line...

My cousin has a pretty sweet custom Harley. He went to small engine mechanic school/Harley school to learn how to work on them... He used to have his own shop in Grand Junction, but wasn't getting enough business, so he went to work for the Harley store there where he met his wife... Now I think he's working on boats or something... I didn't get a chance to ride on that beast, but someday I will.

My father has always been into bikes, he had all different kinds, but now that he's older he prefers harleys. He had a 1999 sportster, and sold it and bought the 2000 or 2001 fat boy.. Everyone busts on him that I'm the son he never had (I have 2 sisters who are both really girly). He always says, "I'm not complaining". We ride together, work on cars, it's pretty cool. When I work on my bike though, he always babies me, that drives me crazy.....

Believe it or not, that is pretty dirty. It gets cleaned every time I ride it just about.. In summer, every 3 times or so, has to be shiny so the cops get a glare when they try to hit my plates with radar:D

Actually, I have it bent up now and I'm going to move it closer to the exhaust I think, a little more hidden..

Who me???? Micron exhaust in the spring and I want to jet the bike, but I got the extended warranty so I want to think about that a little bit.. Possible euro tail, have to see, changing the shield (blue)... The exhaust I want is a blue that fades into a silver, it looks hot

My friend used the term "jet the bike", maybe he meant something else, I know he knows my bike because his friend has a 600 and the other has a 750... Hummm, I 'll have to ask him, I decided not to anyway, it will blow the warranty that I paid extra for, and if I get rid of it, it will help with re-sale... Exhaust is a definite, it looks really cool too... I have to actually look through my magazines and start thinking what to do with it. I will spend some time on that after I finish this damn class that's kicking my ass right now...

You gots a Gix right?
I like the colored C/F slip on's Micron offers. My buddy had one on his 01 R6. The thing is super loud for a slip on!
Over at Gixxer.com I have read a few things about Micron's quality though. Many of the cans have fallen apart after little time.
Are you going full or slip on?
Other brands I would reccomend for the Gixxer are:
Yosh--- Suzuki and Yosh are made for eachother lol
Akrapovic- Superior quality systems
Devil Exhaust - This is the full system I will move to. The shotgun 4-1-2 is jaw dropping. I love the 2 c/f cans on one side on top of eachother.

Don't forget to remap if you go full system too :)

Yah, I just got the 750 in June, I like the blue that fades into silver since I have the blue and white bike, but I looked at Yosh too. I'd rather have quality though... I don't know if I should go full, does that blow the warranty, I got the extended one because I didn't know how fast I would catch on to riding and didn't know if I'd mess it up... I will wind up blowing it sooner or later anyway.... Plus, does it really make a difference, I've been told yes and no, but I would think a full exhaust should show some difference to a slip on??

jontflesh
12-13-2002, 12:55 PM
Big difference between slip on and full.
You will not notice any performance change at all with a slip on. They are more for sound and looks. Full system with a good custom map can produce a good gain in HP. Plus with a full system you get new headders and midpipe.

Suzuki's extended warranty is a joke. Sorry you paid for it. I bought it with my bike and with all my engine problems I really did not find them helpfull at all. They warrantied about 2 jobs and fought me for everything else. Really sucked. A lot of it was the dealer who I bought it from too who actually ended up screwing up a cam chain tensioner replacement so bad a cam split in half. That ended up about 3 months of me fighting with Suzuki and the dealer. They will try and say due to owner neglect the warranty is void ect ect.

I say save up the cash and go full system! :D

The GSXR 750's have been fuel injected since the '98 model came out. If you're gonna do full exhaust you'll want to get a power commander pretty soon after. Or do the PC first. You only "jet" carbuerated bikes, the fuel injected ones actually have computers or ecu's like our cars do. I had a power commander on my last 929 on stock exhaust and it makes a very noticeable difference in the power delivery. I'm gonna get one for my new 929 eventually. Oh yea, here is a pic of my last gixxer :p

I love it, I just think alot of women are scared and those shouldn't get on it cause they'll kill themselves or someone else... You can't ride a bike if you are scared, that's just how I feel though, cause when something happens and you gotta react then and they, those are the people that freeze... It's happened to me 2x's already.... but I'm not afraid of the bike or speed, I also don't try to ride outside my limits as I've only been riding since the end of June

If I was a rider I know I would be careful but it's the idiots in their car that aren't paying attetion to what's around them that bother me and since there is no such thing as a minor fender bender with a bike I just choose to stick with a fast car.

people are constantly out to get me on my bike. Just this week some girl in a honda tryed to make a left turn into me. She was digging in her glove box or something... figures
You always gotta be alert on a bike- no exceptions. You jsut can't space out like people often do in their cars.

I was doing 60 (in a 50 mph zone) and in traffic too, a guy pulls out, pulling a trailor at like 10 mph, barely moving. That's why I thank god I took the class, stopping quick is how so many people get hurt.. I also locked the rear wheel, my reaction to that would have been to let go, but I held it (fish tailing) cause of the class I took. I'm going back for the intermediate class this summer I think, can't hurt.. I look at all cars like they don't see me and are going to do something stupid, it's the only way to be. We have lots of circles here and no one from out of the area can drive them... there's always problems there too..

you have to always be alert when on the road, regardless of your transportation. People typically don't look for bikes on the road and their dimensions catch people by surprise. add the speed at which we "fly" most of the time and it's just as much our fault for putting drivers in unexpected situation as much as it is theirs. I've had some adrenalin inducing experiences myself on bikes, and have learned to be passive aggressive when on one.
