I hear that registry cleaners are supposed to clean up a lot of unnecessary things and make your computer run a lot faster.
Any truth to this? Has anyone ever tried one of them?
If so, did it work for you? And which one did you use?

Unless your computer is full of spyware and bloat already (its too late) they are more harm than good. Most, if not ALL of those things..are BS spyware themselves. If you want it to be done, just have someone that is very confident in computers take a look at it..prolly more help than any software you could buy.

cool, thanks for the advice... I run spysweeper and virus scan regularly but I'm sure there's stuff on there that I don't want... but I'd rather not cause more problems by running a program that won't help.

+1 Quake pimp. I work with pcs, a few pcs that I have to do an OS reload to, l;ast thing done was a reg clean. Do not fuck with the registry, unless you have a good reason too, and then get directions online.
Spysweeper sucks ass btw, too much memory.
If you don't mind manually updating and stuffz, try malwarebytes and superantispyware.

I ran Registry Mechanic.
I think (emphasize that) it helped because my puter was over-loaded with spy/addware and there was one in particular that was driving me insane. It's no longer present... so.
