You expected to find a virus on a unix-based box? :)

Did you fsck the disk that your time machine data was on?

Our macbook pro easily sees itunes data on an xp box. Is the xp partition shared correctly?

Which version of OSX are you running? I regularly plug external usb drives, ntfs formatted, into our MBP and there's never an issue.

No proper delete key??

Windows sucks, but I don't have any problem with viruses on any of my Windows machines, and half of them don't even have AV software installed. All you have to do is to not download pirated software or other crap from shady sites... it's pretty easy. And don't be one of those people who installs a bunch of worthless Internet Explorer toolbars, most of which are infested with spyware.

Ehhh, I haven't had any spyware or viruses on my vista 64 machine in the year + that i've been running it now. Pretty easy to avoid these days. I'm online all day every day as part of my job too.

Microsoft is getting better with each release, but it's still not *nix. :)

ya, i mis typed a common site and a screen came up "buy our virus removed to remove the virus you now have" thought it was a good time to invest in a freeware virus scan app.

the TimeMachine image was on a microsoft file server. did not see any errors in the raid controller log. i might just re build the TimeMachine image and start over. it was upto 120g

i scanned a library into my mac from the above file server with success. running itunes + the new library it was sooo slow. once itunes got around to finding the file it played great. reduced the size of the library things ran ok. got a copy of vmware + mediamonkey in the seam lessmode. this combination works.

10.5.4

microsoft external usb hard drives, are read only unless they are fat32 or firewire.

i got a bluetooth logictech edge kb.
serious: lots of mac/pc differences seem a marketing ploy. cant help but think it hurts apple more than it helps.

I like OSX and dual boot it with xp on my pcs. What I don't like is apples walled garden approach and the general snobby holier than thou attitude of most apple douchebags/fans.
