i went to t&t last Wednesday, and snapped an axle on the launch. its a stock ls motor with and exedy stage 2 clutch. i watched the video, and the p/s side hopped for second, and then the d/s axle snapped. any ideas why this happened? any inexpensive ways to help with wheel hop? thanks

pull up the ebrake, working the clutch and the throttle so the suspension is already loaded. Rev up to what you normally launch at and drop the ebrake when you wanna go.

I'd replace the strut rod bushings. As I believe as the bushings wear and you get that front-back movement of the wheel in the wheel well, which causes the wheel hop. Where's the video Moon? You got it up on Youtube?

Axles normally snap at the launch because of driveline shock. If you have a decent set of tires, they were probably stuck to the track pretty well. Dropping the clutch and putting all the power down all at once is hard on parts. Try slipping the clutch at the start line like these guys said. A little easier on the clutch release should keep your axles alive. We have several customers running 11s and 12s on stock axles.

that def makes sense. I'm using stock motor mounts, and tein basics for suspension:thumbdown
guess I'll try to preload tomorrow, thanks fellas

Me being one of them.
I just recently learned to slip the clutch(like you said)It works good.
I broke a driveshaft shop level 2 axle last year with a stock B20b(that was the last time I ever dumped the clutch)
also preloading is a good idea also.

common causes for wheel hop would be blown front struts, soft rear suspension, blown motor mounts, blown radius rod bushings, etc. like stated the cheapest way to get around it would be to practice technique. youre way better off spinning like crazy than wheel hop or bogging. so launch at a higher rpm and feather the clutch more than dropping it.
