....I seriously doubt an intake would cause the car to overheat, but then again its a Ford....
Make sure the thermostat is opening (both radiator hoses will be hot) and the fan is working. Without the fan cycling as it should, it would overheat when at stops, and idle. Hope that helps!

Sounds like you may have a problem with the fans. When you go down the road, it cools off right? If thats the case, the air flowing across the radiator is cooling it back off and the radiator is doing its job. Check out the fans or the electrical system for the fans namely double check the fuse under the hood.CAi shouldnt have anything to do with that. This should go without saying, but have you checked that coolant level?

....no, not really.... thermostats will go bad when they feel like it pretty much. My money is on thermostat or some sort of fan issue, along with the possibility of low coolant.

X2 on all of the above my daily just started having a warm temp condition about two days ago. I just have to keep the heater on in this burnin ass weather, and keep chuggin. I gotta pick up a t-stat and a new cap today.

Prob the fan switch, or the coolant temp switch that controls the fan.

yea thats what i was thinking and ive been telling him to find it so he can test the fans by jumping em with a paper clip f***ing lazzy a$$ my friends 89 accord was over heatin thats cuz 1 of the wires to the fan switch was corroded off from the engine heat :P so i just rewired it took car of that prob
