Make sure you have the notches in the caps for the rods WITH each other(on the same side) beofre you go and torque them down. Use PLENTY of pre-lube (engine assembly lube of any sort, my favorite is the #5 grease avail at Napa) and make sure the engine turns over after installation and torquing of EVERY cap.
As far as torque specs go?? Also, you may need to make sure you are using the properly matched cap for each rod. If you got them out of order during teardown/cleaning/etc, it can cause similar problems to what you are describing, not to mention severe damage once the engine gets to operating temperature(metal expands when it heats up, and if the tolerances are way too small, you wont have oil clearance, and one or more of your rods can end up putting a nice rod-sized hole in your block....:)) no bueno!
Hope that helps man!

Honda doesnt have step torques on the LS' rods. 23ft/lbs is right and 56 ft/lbs for the main caps is right. Engine assy lube is your best friend, so use lots of it when assembling.
