Well i've got a d15 b engine on a d16z6 tranny. Used the d16 intake manifold and wiring harness. Had to use the d15 b's distributor but wired in the dizzy. Used the z6's ecu too. Here's the problem, i can get it started off starting fluid but when it is started it only tops rpm's while driving and reving at 3500. Then after its off it doesn't want to start unless i use starter fluid again. Its running rich as well. Ready to take it down to TC Performance, I'm stumped. Its in a 95 civic coupe that originialy had a d16z6 but the motor blew and everything else was good on it so i used the d15 motor. It's a daily and i need my car. Please help

ya but its getting spark the timing on its all weird cause of the cam on it(adjustable) but now i was just told it could be the ecu since i'm trying to run a vtec ecu on a non vtec motor

its your distributor!!! i had the same problem as well on my Eg.and if the motor has a adjustable cam gear on it already if it looks like its been messed with i would put a stock cam gear back on it use the one off your z6 to be safe timing wise.

so it really doesn't matter that i'm using a vtec ecu on a non vtec motor cause i thought if it didn't read the motors vtec solenoid then it wouldn't allow the motor to perform can any 1 guide me what wires need to be connected to wat on the dizzy to fix it then the timing? The cam is adjustible but its 0'd out

terminal c on the dizzy cap is cylinder #1(the cylinder closest to the timing belt), from there clockwise it goes 3, 4, then 2. Hope that helps! If thats not what you're talking about, it does sound like you may have a faulty dizzy and will need to replace it! If this seems out of your reach, or like Im speaking Latin, Id definately say its a good idea to take it somewhere where they "know what the deal is"...(TC perf...)

Its your dizzy!!! I'm not going to tell you what I had or whatever if you want your car to run buy a new dizzy!!!!

so i shouldn't need a non vtec ecu just my dizzy wired up correctly...

You will still need a non vtec ECU or you will have a CEL and short rev limiter.

I ran a P28 on my LX with a CEL yes, but no shorter rev limit. It wrapped up all the way to the 7500 rev limit....slowly, but it did it! haha

It would be a good idea to get a Po6 or similar non-vtec ECU though, unless you dont mind the CEL and possibility of a shorter rev limit...

well i really would like to have the right ecu but some jew keeps on taking them out of junk yards... and craigs list is no help... but it'll run right and start right maybe if my dizzy isn't fucked

that motor had an a6 head & IM on it w/pm6 ecu along with a new dizzy, that last person that did any adjustments to the cam gear was Tobi when I had him tune it on the dyno.
