So I changed a timing belt, water pump, thermostat and all the belts on a 01 Honda CRV. Once I was all done I went to start and she will crank but wont turn over. I have spark there are no CELS but there is a wierd humming noise coming from the intake mani sounds like a weeping or something after I try to start the noise will stay there for awhile afterwards. I changed the ignition coil and I get the same results she sounds the same wether wire one is installed or not. I am really lost.
The only thing I think may be off is that when I set it back to TDC after the belt was installed one of the cams was a little off. I also didnt check to crank pully to make sure it was lined up when the cams were TDC any help or suggestions?

Set the belt correctly and hope you didnt bend any valves by cranking in over off time

Check fuel ? If good , you might move to check the valves. I doesn't take much to bend the valves

Agreed with everyone else that said check your timing marks. You can get lucky if you're only a half a tooth off on the marks. If thats the case it will crank but not fire, or fire and run horribly. If when its cranking it sounds as though there is NO compression (steady sound instead of the typical cranking sound) there is a good chance you've bent valves. Hope that helps, G/L!

im willing to bet the noise is compression seeping out of a bent valve
