View Full Version : Is this an asshole move?

So we were downtown on sat night. We were heading back to the lightrail so it was late and everyone was pretty drunk. As were walking down the street, a girl passed by us holding a guys hand. She was pretty good looking so I cat called her. Nothing crazy just a simple, "Hey girl, what's going on?". The guy replies "Fuck you faggot". So i chuckle, say the "Whatever blah blah blah". Well then everyone in my group proceeds to say that i'm an asshole for cat calling a girl that's holding hands with a guy. That if she looks happy, I shouldnt say anything to her.
I say it might be arrogant but not an asshole move. Just because she's holding some guys hand, doesnt mean she's happy. I know lots of girls that are in relationships waiting for "something better to come along". The second side to my arguement is that the guy already has won when I say something to his girl. He's already got the girl and he's taking her home. If some guy hit on my girl, I'd just say smile and say thanks. But apparently, I am wronging in my way of thinking on this.
What's your thoughts?
Mario

Just sounds like an insecure dewd to me. Keep cat callin'! ;)
Yes. You are an asshole. Carry on.

I would have said the same shit. If I was walking w/ my lady and some drunk ass said some shit like that it would be on. Dont get me wrong but it says to the guy that you feel he is a douche and you could treat her better or that you have no respect for people in a relationship. Not to say I'm fighter or pissed off but dont get it twisted. If I'm with a girl its for a reason. So let that shit ride.
If she was eye fucking you then fuck her. The girls that are in relationshp and looking for something better are the same shamless cunts that give women a bad name. These girls are so caught up that they would rather have a guy buy all there shit but as soon as a (better) thing comes along they jump ship.
That is my rant on the subject for today.

I didn't fuck the girl or continue to persue her. It was a simple hello. :)

Show some respect? Not showing respect would have been following them down the road, continually hitting on her and telling her to dumb her BF. If you're dating a hottie, you gotta understand what comes with that territory. Especially when there's a bunch of drunk asses around.

Haha, nice move I say. Drunkeness is a dandy explanation. I wouldn't go as far as saying the guy was insecure or anything like that though.
If I was that guy I wouldn't have said anything back but take a nice grab at my girls ass or something in the nature :D

i don't think its an asshole move. that prick over reacted... you could have know her. maybe an ex. etc. You should have stomped his face in and then shot him in the back of the head.

I like pangs response the best, it would be fresh to rub it in.
Personally I think it was a little bit of dick move, but it could have been much worse. I definitely don't think it was a move that required homeboy to start talking shxt or fight about it or anything though.
If everyone calls you a horse, maybe its time to shop for a saddle.

I'm not questioning the guy's response. My question is in regards to my actions of talking to the girl while she's holding a guys hand. I was branded an asshole for doing that. It's not like I was seriously laying the mack down on her.
And for all those people that said "I'd kick your ass". Don't you think that's a little extreme? I didn't slap her ass, try to kiss her or anything.
I would have bent her over and did her in front of you so you had somethin' to beat off to at the end of the night.

What if the guy was just a friend and holding her hand? I've done worse in the past. The best one was when she ended up taking me home... The look on his face was priceless
Holding hands is not always a sign of dating.....

the jury is in; not an asshole move. if the guy is stupid enough to get butt hurt and want to fight you then fuck him.
the correct response is "yea, and she's going home with me...." and maybe the ass grab. if you cannot say the above with your S/O when someone hits on 'em then you need to re-evaluate yourself, or your S/O. if you don't have a reason to worry then don't do it...
dave... maybe you should be drunk dtown with cooler people, instead of escaped nuns?

The jury still look likes it concluded it was at least a disprespectable move and just should think before acting next time. How do you know they weren't married? I guess it's a young person thing since that wouldn't fly with my peers.
You say she might want something better to come along but how do you assume you are the something better? After all you're the one kinda being a dog and try to fish in private waters and I bet almost all women would be calling it an asshole move.
Brandon
06-17-2008, 01:49 PM
Juries have to be unanimous, so if there's any jury decision it would be not guilty.
I don't think Dave was trying to hook up with said woman. He was just being a drunken fool which is expected late on a Saturday night downtown.
jackmode9316
06-17-2008, 02:19 PM
Drunken Fool=Asshole.
Doesn't usually matter what specific actions are taken, its more than likely the case. ESPECIALLY when the said Drunken Fool is around friends.
Dave, Your a dick, deal with it. Then again, nice guys finish last. AND If your not first, your last, right?;)
Im personally curious what women think. Wishful thinking though, HAI is THEE sausage fest.

All the girls in my group said it was an asshole move but I don't really care what they think. Girls say one thing but like/want the other. I know it wasn't the "polite" thing to do but it was fucking 2 am on saturday night. I was walking down 16th street mall drinking a beer. If that doesn't say/indicate that I'm just fucking around, I don't know what else does. Have some fucking fun in life. I bet it was that guys first GF ever so he had to be billy badass and defend his girls honor.. Step up your game and give your girl a confident slap on the ass. "Nothing says good job like a firm pat on the ass".

I know lots of girls that are in relationships waiting for "something better to come along".
Yes, but do you really want to get involved with someone like that? People who are always wanting something more will never be satisfied and it's only a matter of time until they just leave you, or cheat on you, as well. It's not like they're going suddenly realize that they've got it great and stop being a shallow whore.
As for "cat calling" in general... well, I suppose the kind of girls that respond positively to that are a good match for the kind of guys who do it.

From a girls point of view, if she was happy w/ the guy and he didn't do anything or defend the relationship, then I'd be upset. A man shouldn't let anyone hit on their girl. And if the girl was "waiting for better to come around" then fuck her. She's a whore. Thats the kind of girl that gives the rest of us bad names. Dick move? not so much. Drunken move? I'd say so, so its alright. Lol. The guy Over-reacting?? Eh, a little, since he could have chosen better words.

I'm sure that excuse wont work with THE MAN. On the other hand telling myself "Fuck it, I was drunk" has helped me (And others) excuse certain actions that ended up being regretted later. So I figured the same would apply here.

I never said I was trying to date the girl. ;) I just expressed interest in her. Did I expect the guy to say "Here sir, take my girl. I will say nothing or do nothing." Of course not. If he said something like that, Id kick him in his nuts and take his girl.
You guys are making it seem like I was sitting there kissing on his girl or something. Holy hell, I said whats up to her as I was walking down the street. I'm sorry that it seems to bother so many people but it's time for a reality check. IF YOU DATE AN ATTRACTIVE GIRL, SHE WILL GET HIT ON. If you can't handle the thought of another guy expressing interest then go date some ugly fat chick. Your problem will be solved and you won't have to get scared about losing her.

If a woman was to dump her man or do something behind his back just by you flirting with her then she'll do the same to you.

Dudeman, I completely agree with you... Im not one to talk at girls when they're with their dudes, but as far as some dude trying to talk to my girl, thats a compliment!
....it also kinda depends what the girls facial expression was after the "hey how ya doin" deal. If she gave you the come hither smile, then nah man, yer not an asshole.....Mr. Protective obviously ISNT doing something right!
On the other hand, if she kept a blank face, or looked offended in any way, then ya. ....yer the asshole...haha
nolimitsoldier
06-19-2008, 02:19 PM
it depends on the context and their actions with me. If i'm with my girl and someone thinks she's hot, i really don't mind. But, if they start hitting on my girl after it's made clear not to, then i get pissed. Or if i'm really drunk i may get pissed. But if she goes over there and starts getting it on with them, then i don't care, because that would mean she's a whore and not someone i want to be in a relationship.
So my .02 is you don't sound too ass-ish, but kinda because it's a little disrespectful. I'm on the fence on this one.
