Hey everyone,
I don't post here too often, but over at bimmerforums, we are trying to get a road rally together for sometime in august and just wanted to see if anyone on this forum would be interested. So far it is a few bmw guys and a few supra guys, but I say the more variation the better!
So, I can't post links that is retarded. Here is the info:
So I woke up this morning feeling a little ambitious. I decided that I wanted to try to organize a road rally in the late summer months that goes for about 5 days and 2300 miles. Since I cannot afford to do the big road rally's so I'm going to do my own! I have some places in mind and kind of mapped out the route this morning and that is where i was getting the days and mileage from. The route is as follows (mileage and time are according to Google maps):
Day 1: Denver to Jackson's Hole, 525 miles ~ 8hrs.
-Stay the night somewhere in Jackson's hole, possibly all get dinner together when all the cars get there (and I'm sure partying soon after).
Day 2: Jackson's Hole to Salt Lake City, 305 miles ~ 5hrs.
-Stay in Salt Lake for the night.... Of course more partying.
Day 3: Salt Lake City to Las Vegas, 420 miles ~ 6hrs.
-Craziness will soon ensue upon arrival.
-I'm thinking because of the nature of Vegas that we might not want to drive the next leg of the rally until the next day.
Day 4 Possibly 5: Vegas to Santa Fe, 630 miles ~ 9hrs.
-Definitely recover from Vegas with a chill night in Santa Fe.
Day 5/6: Santa Fe to Denver, 400 miles ~ 6hrs
-Return to Denver and stay at a hotel downtown with a big end of rally party.
Total Trip ~2300 miles in 5 or 6 days!!!
I was thinking that we could try to get some sponsors of the rally so that we can get some prizes for the shortest distance traveled and other categories. I figured that it would cost about $600- $700 for the hotels along the way per team (car). Gas and food, entertainment, maintenance and everything else would be up to the individual drivers or teams.
So that is the tentative deal for everything, please post up if you guys are SERIOUSLY INTERESTED! Just thought I would post this feeler to see how many people would like to do it, I am going to do it regardless, if I'm the only one thats cool too.
Most likely I'm thinking that maybe August so that we can have time to try to get sponsors and deals on hotels, etc.
