Hello, just earlier today was finally laying down around 350whp in my 04 Hyundai Elantra and the transmission couldn't take it so it blew. I'm not sure exactly what part inside the transmission failed.

So my question is I'll be getting a new one soon and am wondering what I can do to beef up the transmission to be able to handle the abuse that I'm going to give it? I already had cryotreated the differential and all the shift forks (didn't cryotreat the input and output shafts with all the gears on them, though now I wish I had lol). Is there anykind of a shop who can rebuild them stronger, and if so how much would I be looking to spend you think? I'm not planning on going above 450whp, so not sure if streight cut gears would be overkill or not. Plus its my daily driver so not sure how bad the whining noise would be.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the transmission stronger? Any advice is greatly appreaciated thanks!

It would be good to find out what broke and go from there.

Yeah I'm going to take it appart within the next couple days and see whats up with it. I'm thinking its the input shaft thats broken since none of the gears are working. I suppose it could be the differential but that thing is so thick with huge teeth on it I can't imagine that gear breaking, but I guess ya never know lol.

My final gear ratio is like 3.9 or 4.0 I believe and I found a 4.3 which includes an input shaft as well. Would changing the ratios like that put less load on the gears, making the transmission less prone to breaking shit? Also, its good for acceleration too right?

If you blew the Diff, wouldn't that put pieces through the case?
