Anyone else go through this? I just got diagnosed yesterday. Basically it feels kind of like a back ache/stomach ache on my left side, or like someone hit me with a baseball bat in the kidney. They gave me some good ass percocets(sp?) and told me to drink lots of fluid. They only other thing I have found that kills the pain(besides pain meds.) is a hot shower or bath. My question is does it get worse? I mean it does hurt pretty damn bad but still. I thought that I have heard people say it starts hurting in the Genitalia area. Can anyone offer some input?
Thanks in advance.

Oh man, that sucks bro. I haven't had them but I've heard they're painful. I've heard that if you drink lots of water and stay away from sugary drinks, you can kind of prevent them. Can anyone confirm that?
Good luck with it man. I wish I had some advice for you. Painkillers+some beers=relief. :)

Its basically a buildup of dissolved minerals which passes from the kidney, out of the urine stream. A damn rock that I have to piss out.
Symptoms of kidney stones include:
Colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as the "the worst pain [...] ever experienced".[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidney_stones#cite_note-titleUSNews.com:_Health:_Kidney_Stone_Disease:_Ove rview-1)
Hematuria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematuria): blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra.
Dysuria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysuria): burning on urination when passing stones (rare). More typical of infection.
Oliguria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliguria): reduced urinary volume caused by obstruction of the bladder or urethra by stone, or extremely rarely, simultaneous obstruction of both ureters by a stone.
Nausea/vomiting: embryological link with intestine—stimulates the vomiting center (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_postrema).
It says loin to groin... and Im on loin now. :(

Damn, i drink Mt. Dew every day. May have to even that out with water. So i was thinking about the pain, and remembered i had blood in my urine one time, and how bad just that hurt because it was thicker than piss. Im betting that stone is going to hurt like getting swabbed at the Dr.

Thats what I am guessing. I can only hope that it doesn't. I thought I heard from somewhere that this was the only pain for a man, that is comparable to child birth.

That sucks, havent had them but i know they hurt like bigtime, did they tell you they were going to laser them to make them smaller and less painful? Thats what they were gonna do to my cousin. He went to doctors through his work cause of back pains, they said it was kidney stones not that he lifted tires, he got a second opinion and his doctors through his company tried getting away from the blame. Just wondering if they are gonna laser them or not.

No he said they could break it up with ultrasounds or whatever, but only if it was too big to pass. I was reading on Wikipedia and they basically said anything below 4mm could pass naturally. God help me if this thing is any bigger. Ive seen these fuckers before and they look like a jagged little rock...Ill see if I can find pics.

My boss gets kidney stones if gets too dehydrated. Soda can definitely lead to kidney stones. Make sure to stay hydrated.

I fucking had these things. They hurt soo bad! Mine kept dropping in and out of my kidney and everytime they did that it would send that pain through. Did you feel like you had to vomit? I did. When I finally passed it a week later I felt a sort of burn in my balls and then I had to pee and it just shot out into the strainer thing they give you to keep it. His name was Dameon I kept him for a week then threw him away :) Some say passing hurts almost as bad as when its dropping in and out of your kidney. Drink lots of cranberry juice it helps break it down. Sorry man, I know how this is but you will feel soo much better once its gone and you will not believe something so small could cause soo much pain. Oh and lots of water as well.
I had an insane abdomenal pain several months back... like, I thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. Went into the doctor and they thought it was a sprained stomach muscle or something since I had just been snowboarding the day before. I can still feel traces of it every now and then... ugh, I hope it's not this shit. Good luck with it though, shitty news.

Thanks you. The kidney part is over I hope. Literally I puked the second I walked out of the doctors office on thursday. Its stopped hurting my kidney for now.....but the burning is still there. I have been drinking shitloads of water. Perhaps its time for cranberry juice.
M@:
I had the feeling similar a few weeks ago. It literally felt the same, but not as bad(still fucking hurt like shit though). It went away in a day or two though. I figured it was just from my bruised rib, but apparently it was not. This shit seriously had me laid up like a little bitch in bed. It is damn near the worst pain I have ever felt, second to my tooth rotting out. You probably drink plenty of water though, working out and all. I literally didn't drink water at all for about a month, could have been longer. Ugh, never again.
8 glasses of water a day you say? No fucking problem.

I personally like Level Vodka.
Just hooked up the keg orator today though....so none of that.
Skeet skeet.... however beer will dehydrate you... so, uhhhmmmmmm..........................

None of the keg -rator either. Just a single beer here and there won't hurt. I couldn't possibly be dehydrated with all of the water I have been drinking.
Peeing every 30 min. ftl.

Yea I wouldn't be drinking any alcohol, unless of course you like pain. FYI alcohol makes kidney stones worse.
