I am about to trade a 2005 Honda CBR600RR IN PERFECT SHAPE WITH LOW LOW MILES for a 2001 Honda Prelude, I need to know is it to good to be true? Or am I dumb as hell? I don't know, I don't know much about the H22 I am B series type of guy, but because I need a nice and good running car and I am pretty much done with the racing scene for now I need to know a few things about this car because it's nice.

Here is what he listed.

MODS:

JDM H22A
F22 tranny
Buddy Club ECU
ES Motor Mount Inserts
No AC (dont know if thats a good or bad thing lol)
I HAVE ALL AC PARTS
Greddy EVO 2 Exhaust
DC Header
High Flow Cat
KYB GR2 shocks in rear/ stockers up front
H&R Sport Springs all around
SH wheels (the car was an SH before the motor swap) with all season tires
OEM lip kit
ACT Xtreeme Pressure Plate w/ street disk
Fidanza 8lb Flywheel]
New Throw Out Bearing
Honda Carbon Fiber Dash Kit

Now for the badness:

The sunroof does not open right... The track needs to be replaced. It has also left a mark on the roof.

The paint on the front end is chipping quite a bit... the passenger rear quarter panel needs some love as well.

The exhaust has a bad rattle where the header meets the cat... any exhaust shop should be able to fix this.

Now what I am trying to ask is why he used a f22 tranny is that better or worse, number 2 with it being swapped with a jdm motor, should I be concerned? And is my perfect running 2005 CBR600RR worth this trade? Or like I said is it to good to be true? Or am I a dumb ass, I wish I knew more about this type of car.

Sound decent-ish to me.

One thing you may want to ask him is if the tensioner recall was performed. H22s from the factory come with a funky hydrollic tensioner that tends to break, causing bent valves (no bueno!). So, Honda put out a good ol fashioned mechanical tensioner as a replacement for it, only most JDM engines do not have this performed. So, that may be something for you to look into.

Also, as far as I know (and Im no expert) the F22 trans is a cheap option for H22's after the tranny blows. Im not certain about the gear ratios (Im pretty sure the F22 trans isnt geared as aggressively as the H22) but I know they bolt up and work just fine.

Thats about all I have to comment on really, but like I said, Im no expert! Hope that helps tho man, G/L!

Yeah that does help, it seems strange, I mean the car is very nice just to let go for a sports bike you know, after telling me about that though that makes me think maybe I should take a second to think on this one.. I don't know, anymore advice anyone??

And big thanks to hrcDSM719 thanks allot.

The only thing that really sticks out in my mind is the Tranny. Unless he parted that motor together, JDM block, JDM Head, and then couldn't find a JDM tranny, my guess would be he blew his H22 tranny and just bolted on a F22.
That's not necesseraly bad, F22's are fully functional just not NEARLY as aggresive as H22 tranny's. Just sell you F tranny and buy a H and bolt it right on. Just something to think about. Most of the time people go F2H on tranny's not H2F...kinda dumb. Besides that, car looks great :) G/L

I think with the f22 trans everytime you shift it dips below VTEC. could be wrong. Is this the one on craigslist?

Get it and buy a new tranny ASAP. F22's had LONG gears.

That's a sexy looking prelude. just swap out the Tranny. F22's....basiclly suck ass. My Accord is F22, it has balls for what it is, but it's still weak. I'm going to H Swap it probably next year.

Very true about the F22/23 tranny. LONG gears. I wanted to do a H23 tranny swap when I did my clutch, couldn't find one at the time where I lived. I regret not waiting to find an H23 Tranny.

Don't get rid of your bike... You'll regret it. Even if its a good trade, you'll wish you still had your bike. Riding > Driving
