Alright so I have been piecing together what I am going to use in my engine since I blew it up about a month and half ago. What all needs to be done before instalation? Balance? Shot Peen? I have also heard that my block might need a little machining since the Eagle H-Beams have some clearance issues? Can anyone clarify these few questions? Also what is the cost of Shot Peening and balance. Block is a single slam zc.

You don't need to Shot peen a Eagle Rod thats only on stock rods to make the stronger. You'll have to notched the block for the rods, at the bottom of the cylinder wall for it to fit.
Here is a pic of where it needs to be notched (see how it is touching)

Heres how it looks notched.

heres how some guy does it.

What engine? For pistons you should have the block bored/honed about .020 over and get pistons to fit that. For knotching it probably depends on the block, for d16 blocks you do this:

Scroll to the block knotching section.
You'll probably want the crank inspected/polished, that's what I had done to mine.

If you take your rod/piston combo along with your crank and block to a machine shop, and have them give it a once over, they can take care of the notching, and anything else necessary to get the optimum clearances/etc necessary. Any reputable machine shop will be able to do that for you, probobally not all that cheap, but done properly.
If I were you, I would have the block hot tanked, line bored, decked, cylinder bore (if necessary) and honed. Plus, the pistons fitted to the rods, big ends re-shaped/double checked, balanced, crank cut and polished/balanced if necessary and everything clearanced. Plus, (unless you have the means) get your end gap on your rings set also. And at a minimum Id have the head resurfaced as well. To do all that will prob cost a fair amount (more than $500, definately), but everything will be done properly, and you wont have to worry about it until you feel like rebuilding it again.
Hope that helps!

Its not completely necessary to do all of the above, more recommended than anything. I would definately take all of your stuff in and let them tell you what all it needs, and then have them show you what thye're talking about... G/L to you!

Thanks guys, I got a big hand of help so it should be going soon, I'm just scared shitless of the compression ratios with those damn vitara pistons. Any pointers on getting that up?

The compression ration typically remains within +/- .5 of the pistons designated ratio. Variables can be anything from flat top valves (thatd raise it), headgasket thickness, etc.
What is the c/r for the Vitaras you'll be using?

According to the compression calculator in the d16 turbo compression thread in the tech zone it's something stupid like 7.16:1

Oh wow, that is rediculously low. You dont have basic compression numbers for the pistons alone? From Vitara?
They should give you a general area of your compression ratio,(typically) based on the dome/dish of the piston etc. Then it will either go up or down based upon combustion chamber area, h/g thickness, flat/dished valves etc.

You will be sitting with low CR w/ vitara's unless you get fjt's new custom rod, made specifically for those pistons. Those rods will bump you up to mid 8's:1 CR. Look in the classified areas of d-series.org or turbod16.com, he sells them through there. He is currently taking pre-orders for the 2nd batch of rods but doesn't know when they'll be available.
FWIW, plenty of people have run Vitara pistons on std length rods and they have been fine. But if you're really particular about running a higher CR you might want to look into the fjt custom rods or go with a different piston (that's what I ended up doing 'cause I didnt' want to wait for fjt rods).
Also, a d16z6/y7 with vitaras will give you around 7.6:1 CR
d16y8 around 7.8:1

with our z6 vitara/eagle motor we hit 416whp on 20 psi at tc's the numbers are corrected with the 7.8.1 compression

The block was already sent to be assembled with all the machining work. I'm scared about emissions but I guess if on 20lbs I make ~400hp I'll be stoked. Hey riceburner was that on a stock head or?
