Update: newest pics on PG 4
Well, I began building my 91 CRX to run in the NHRA SFWD class but long story short (sick of drag racing and it's drama), I've decided to focus the car more towards road racing. At this point in time, I am building the car to run the Nasa rocky mountain series in the time trials/attack class. I am REALLY excited about planned HPR, and can't wait for it to be built.
Build highlights:
- Built B16 trans with a Quaife
- Stock B16 block with built GSR head (will run it until it blows)
- 10pt cage with nascar bars (being built)
- CF reinforced ABS splitter (being built)
- CF diffuser (being built)
- Koni Yellows with 500/600lb skunks
- Rear teg sway bar with aluminum heim links
- Teg brakes F/R
- Twin scrowl GT3082R
- Modded F-R PWR rad
- Hossier 225/55/15 R6s
- Oil cooler/meth injection
- Pre-production Mfactory roll center adjuster ball joints
- Tuned with Neptune (Jeromy's the man)
- lots more, but you get the idea

I plan on keeping this as my "build thread for the locals" so to speak. I'll post up more pics as they become available. However, I can only work on the car when the customer's will let me, so my progress right now is kinda slow. Right now I'm waiting for the manifold and turbo to get back from the ceramic coater, and will be building the cooling system next.
Stay tuned!

I LOVE the way you have the wastegate right near the downpipe. I assume that is so you can tie in the dump for the gate to the DP right? Looks very nice man, very nice. I don't dig the open dump myself....

Its not equal length. The runner placement is designed for a divided collector (dual scroll).

Thanks man! yeah I'm really excited. I now manage a fabrication shop up here in loveland, and am going to build a trailer designed specifically for my needs. If all goes well, I shouldn't have any trouble getting the car where it needs to be.
BTW, that your car in your sig? What happened to the Altima project? :)

Nope. It'll actually be an open dump. Any way I can increase efficency and reduce temps will be used. Since it'll be 90% race car/10% street car I don't really care about the noise.

Indeed buddy. I still gotta come down and check her out. Sucks about the bearing though, but live and learn. I have a build in process, but we should definetly hang out soon. Living up North blows.
Evil_SpeedRacer Ah I see, thats a lot of dough!
Compared to other builders it's really not. But considering I'm a one man operation I provide the best customer oriented service out there. I'm all about constant communication and providing pictures along the way. I don't just suddenly disappear with your hard earned $, while 4 months goes by like some builders.
I'll have some updates this upcoming week! :)
Thanks guys!

Sounds like you have it all planned out, TT is fun but ill try and convince you to wheel 2 wheel race if ever see you at the track :P
When are you planning on coming out? We have an event in May but its filling up fast! How much track experience do you have? HPDE is a great place to start out and learn the ropes. Its what I did and never looked back.
I sold the altima almost 3 years ago and bought a 240sx, turboed the KA, got 260whp out of it, sold it and bought the car in my sig. Ive been racing 944 spec now for a year and half and its the greatest thing in the world. Nothing beats low cost, equal racing, going 100+mph into turn one 3 wide while threshold braking halfway into the turn is a feeling i cant describe.
Boy have we come a long way since middle school and building RC cars.

Cool! This brings back fond memories of the years that I ran a turbo Integra in Time Trials. No matter if you do HPDE, Time Trials, or wheel-to-wheel racing, NASA Rocky Mountain can be a lot of fun. It's a very friendly group and more of a family than just a business/customer relationship. Feel free to let me or Chris know if you have any NASA questions. As others have mentioned, HPDE group 1/2 is very popular (already full for the May event), so be sure to register as early as possible. If you're willing to make the drive to the Hastings event later this summer, it's a really nice track, and there should be less of a problem with the HPDE groups being full.

lol damn! time flies! Yeah sometimes I wish I was still doing just RC cars, Soooo much cheaper lol.
But I'll definetly do other events! I just want to really focus my efforts towards time trials, since some of the parts that I am utilizing will push me into some really fast classes. I just want to push the envelope of a CRX track car and don't want to be limited by certain class restrictions. I honestly don't have much track experience right now (did mead once before they shut it down, and second creek a couple times) but am willing to do everything it takes to get seat time and develop the right skills. I do however have hundreds of canyon runs under my belt if that counts lol. I can't wait to push the limits of not only my car, but my driving abilities as well. That would be badass to get you as an instructor! :)
I don't think I'll have everything done in time to start this season, but my goal is to have everything set and ready for next season. I not only plan on running with NASA, but I'll probubly be at HPR all the time (if everything goes as planned).
servion New manifold looks PIMP dude, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the divided t3 does
Hell yeah. I think I'll just run the WG spring (12psi) and will go with whatever power we can get out of it. I think a boost controler on the track might get a little dangerous ;OwnEd;
There was a guy on HT that made 600whp with the same turbo and the ATP divided housing without a divided manifold (not sure why). I think it'll work out awsome. :)

Damn you got rid of the teg two? Seems like both of you were talked into running the 944s :P Yeah at this point, I'd be willing to sell my kidney to run NASA compared to NHRA lol. If I can get the car done in time, I'll definetly come out to the next upcoming event. :)

Compared to my old 2.0L GSR T4 PT61 setup, it hooks up awsome. However, that was with my old laggy SC61. With the new twin scrowl setup I should have a much better power band, and probubly more wheel spin. however, with the R6's or Toyos I'll be running it shouldn't be too bad around 300whp.

Welp, it's been about a month... heres an update on whats been completed:
- Down pipe, exhaust, dumptube
- Charge piping and IC endtanks
- the coolant lines for the turbo
- Radiator bung
- EF8 bumper has been cut to fit
Unfortunetly I havn't been able to get as much done as I had liked since I had to build my buddies H22 manifold (50+hrs of work). It was the first H series manifolds I've done, and turned out fantastic!

Next up is:
- Radiator shrouding (It's going to look badass!)
- Oil cooler bracket, lines...blah
- thru the uni-rail Intake tube
After I get those few things done, I should be able to start it for the first time in a year and a half, and finally finish my rear suspension. :boobies:

updates for y'all :M:
Put some finishing touches on the engine bay. I decided not to put on my EF8 front end setup though. I figure I'll spend my $ where it's needed, considering the front end will just get F'd up on the track anyways. I've had plans to get either another EF sedan or hatch anyways for a DD, and will do the conversion on that.
I just need to get the oil cooler done (it was back ordered) and the front end of the car is done. Now I just have to get the rear end and interior completed.

you know, I agree with you 100%. I've always regreted cutting the bumper to that extreem (hence my origonal plan to go EF8 front end), but I had to with my previous setup to clear the IC. It does offer more airflow to the radiator though, which I'll definetly need out there on the track. eh.

how much boost you plan on running on your setup? when you get it done you should post up some dyno charts
Not much more than 9psi. I want to keep boost low to keep temps down and out of the hole traction to a manageable level. At 9psi though I should be making around 300whp, which will be more than enough to be competitive in time trials. As I advance the car, I may increase the power levels but I have a feeling I'm going to run out of gear long before I need power.
I should be working on the rear suspension here soon. :gapteeth:
