I have a 98 GSR thats a theft-recovery and now it has a LS engine and tranny. My problem is when the engine warms up I can't get above 5500 RPM's. It acts like it redlines there. When the engine is cold i can go to the normal redline at like around 7000. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

First of all why do you redline it when its cold?

I did to see if i could. Not an everyday thing. It's really annoying and i'm lost on what to do.

Check engine light on? What ECU are you using?

i had this issue once and it was caused by a bad coil (msd external)

however my problem started after about 10-15 minutes of highway driving (4000 or so RPMs). it wasn't simply when it warmed up.

The check engine light is off. The engine runs great. No problems at all. The ecu is stock so i'm guessing its a P75. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Ive had a friend that had a similar problem, wound up being the camposition sensor in the dizzy, but it would throw CEL only when it was malfunctioning. If you dont have a CEL on then its prob not that...

It may be a good idea to check which ECU youre running just in case. If your running the GSR computer (p72) it may be because of the LS engines lack of knock sensor (?). G/L man!

If he was running a P72 it would have a CEL all the time for lack of knock sensor and lack of VTEC switch inputs to the ECU.

sounds like it could be the wrong ecu or something with the ignition
