Couldn't tell you Terry. From what I was told the FD's around here go for 5 to 6k USD. All the stickers that look like prices are just two digits. If you just assume that the 59 sticker means 590,000 yen. That works out to about 5,900 USD. I guess I could find out more definitively but, using that system. The silver FD is ~6k, the supra 7,500 and the jHeep ~5k.

No problem on posting the pictures, I'm like a kid in a candy store out here. If the weather holds up Saturday, I'm supposed to be going to a drag strip with the guy who owns that white EVO IV pictured on the first page. I should get some good pictures then. I saw a DC2 ITR and an R34 GTS this morning but, didn't have the camera with me. : ( It's been a bit rainy lately and I've been doing most of the driving, so I haven't been able to get many pictures but, here's what I've managed. My fiance snapped pictures of the two R32's from the passenger seat so forgive the quality. The green truck is left hand drive and tagged locally, looks to be a slammed silverado. It's too wide for the roads here at any rate. (plates with Kanji to the left of the numbers are Okinawan locals, the ones with a Y next to the numbers are "yankees")

Nope, No EF's yet man. Lots of SILVER Integras, though. The DC2 and DC5 ITR's I saw were Championship White. Last night I saw a black DC2 with MR5's being driven by a chick, though. :) Quite a few other honda... things. That you guys probably haven't nor would you want to have heard of. Ie: the Dunk, Integra SJ (which is basically a D15B powered EK3), Domani etc etc.

Not yet, the fiance won't be old enough to drink here until July. (20 is the drinking age here by the way) Other than that, we've just been checking out the Island. I've been trying to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road, from the wrong side of the car. It's a lot easier than I imagined it would be. The main issue was the magnetic pull to put yourself to the left side of the lane and, getting used to the traffic patterns. Took me all of a day to get comfortable with it. I dunno if I could've managed all that + shifting with my left hand but, now that I'm used to it, I'm itching to get my hands on a manual. Rear wheel drive preferably. ;)

Yeah it's cool here, everyone is really laid back. The hospitality is on another level and, those who don't speak english are VERY patient in trying to figure out what you're asking for. If you can speak a lick of Japanese, even if it's just enough to say you don't understand japanese (Nihongoga wakademasen) they'll break their backs to muster up as much english as they can, or find someone who speaks more english than them. I'm comfortable here but, still trying to learn everything. Ie: the right way to do things like, eating with chopsticks (there are quite a few do's and don'ts), and just the customs in general. This country is very clean from what I've seen thusfar. I'll get some pictures of the landscape up soon.

I don't really know how to answer your question Terry. R32 and R33 base model (rear wheel drive, non turbo RB25DE ~195HP) Skyline's are pretty common.. The GT-R's of any generation are kind of rare and produce ~280HP. So I'm not really sure what you could compare them to.

I think its more the prestige and recognition factor he refers to. The Corvette has a reputation over most cars. By the way you describe the rareness of them, it sounds like the might be the equivalent. All the guys I have seen driving them in Option mag/video always seem to be loaded to me.

I never had a 360, I had a PS3 back in the states but, gave that to my little brother as a birthday present. I'll probably snag one again when GT5 comes out, or the itch to play COD4 gets bad enough. I'm currently back to PS2, which I barely touch anymore. I think Spoon92 plays Forza, though.

As far as the rareness of the GT-R's that may only apply to Okinawa, for all I know they could be much more common on the mainland. I've seen 4 or 5 R32 GT-R's, one R34 GT-R and one R35 GT-R. The rest have been GTS, GTS-T etc etc.

hey, i live up on the main island just west of tokyo. i've got some pics posted up here of when i went to the Tokyo Auto Salon (http://www.highaltitudeimports.com/showthread.php?t=50298). i've got tons of pics if ya'll wanna see em...both clubs and cars.

my first car here was a caged & seam welded pink sileighty dorifto car...now i've got an 86 toyota mark II (it's basically an old cressida) with a swapped 1g-gte and laggy as hell 60-1 on there:eek: i'm planning on taking that out and throwing a sweeeet 1jz-gte in there, building it and taking it to the states with me.

right now i'm in iraq but when i get back i can keep my eyes open and hook ya'll up with some parts if you want. you just have to pay for the part and shipping

man, skylines are like mustangs over there...cheap and they're EVERYWHERE. i see gt's, gts, gts-t, the 4wd selectable gts-t, 4 doors, 2 doors, and gt-r's. my fave skyines are the r-32 gts-t 4 doors...those things are hella sweet:) oh yeah, and i managed to snap a pic of a new GTR right off base back in december or so...didn't even know they were supposed to be out by then but oh well, lol

Why do you have butterflies on your car?

those are called wakaba marks or shoshinsha marks. in japan you are required to display them on your car if you have been driving less than 1 year. Basically to let everyone else around you know that its very likely you will drive like a douchebag and to cut you a little slack hehe.
not sure about them being illegal for americans though, never heard that before.
There are also similar marks for drivers over 60 years old, and for the same reasons.

i don't think they're illegal for americans/gaijin...i see the new driver ones around base all the time. people get really nervous driving on the other side of the road

driving on the other side of the road isnt bad at all, the thing that took me the longest to get used to was the opposite blinker and wipers levers.

the wipers/blinker gets me sooo bad...especially when i go on vacation. right when i get used to the blinkers being on the other side, boom! they're back and totally screwing me lol
