Ok, I got a ticket today for 15 over and I really dont need my insurance to be shooting up anytime soon. I was curious if anyone has ever done the online traffic classes to get the ticket dropped and if you have done it, how did you go about doing it?

Online traffic classes? This is the first time I've heard of something like that. You can usually expect to be offered a plea bargain that reduces the points, but not the fine. Some will give you an automatic 2 point reduction if you pay within 20 days or so, and some will require you to go to court where the prosecutor will offer you a deal... usually just a plea bargain for a 2 point reduction, but sometimes traffic school (such as Alive at 25) is worked into that. It varies from city to city.

I just got done taking online traffic school for when I wrecked my CRX. For lakewood they let you go to trafficschoolonline.com(the court should give you a paper with available schools if you chose to go to traffic school)......Basically you just take the little practice quizes, and when it comes time for your final.....they make you go somewhere such as Kinkos/FedEx, or the UPS store. Basically they just verify that you are who you say you are, the store employee just enters a password(that is faxed to them) and their name and store number, then you use one of their computers to take the test directly from the website. Apparently all online traffic school has to be done this way in Colorado.
It was actually pretty convienient. Plus you don't have to go sit all day in some shitty ass class. All in all I think I completed mine in about 4 hours total. Easy as pie. It cost 25 bucks for the online course...then I spent another 7 at kinkos(for the fax, and computer rental)
They knocked a 4 pointer down to 2 points for doing this. They would have probably knocked it down more....but I kind of have a "not so good" driving record in this great state.
As far as insurance rates.....I have AT LEAST 8-9 points on my record, and have yet to see an increase in rates.

In my experience, insurance will jack me for speeding tickets (especially if it's for 20+ MPH over), but they don't seem to give a crap about 2-point violations I get out of plea bargains (ie defective equipment, failure to signal, etc).

NO I would suggest you do this, if they offer it. Its worth the less points, if nothing else. I think I may just be lucky, and Geico hasn't noticed my tickets or something. I wonder if they can cancel me or something because of it.

Insurance companies usually pull your driving record every 2 years. That way, they can get you within the 3 years before the ticket drops off. They upped my insurance even though I pled it down to a 2 point defective vehicle.

I was only going 11mph over, so as long as I paid it early, they automatically dropped it down.
