Is 10w 30 Synthetic ok for these? I did'nt suggest it, but my buddy listened to the lady at VatoZone and now he feels sketchy. Does it need changed in 3000 miles?
Yeah it will work, but I've always just ran Honda manual tranny fluid. I only changed tranny fluid about every 20k miles or so?...........or when I blew the tranny up from 6k launches on slicks. Haw haw.

I suggested that only, but he lagged till Sunday and had to get what he could. He noticed his seal is leaking more and thought maybe because the Synthetic is less weight? Its out the axel seal, but he didnt change them and there prolly around 100000 miles.
Probably was leaking before but never noticed it, in my opinion. When you start working on a particular thing, you get paranoid about shit sometimes. Small leaks, etc. that were there before perhaps, you think suddenly something you did caused it.

Back before Honda formulated a MTF, they were calling for 10w30 in the trans. But now the have a MTF, so I would use that or some brand of synchromesh (Penzoil/GM, Royal Purple, BG)

The redline lightweight shockproof works awesome. Ive used 10w-40 in Honda trans without issue, just a matter of preference really. If he's on a budget, Id go with 10w40, if not, redline.
Also, synthetic oil leaks are more common not because of lower weight, but smaller molecules. Synthetic oil molecules are close to half the size of conventional oil molecules of the same weight. Thats prob why it was leaking, as that tends to happen. Especially when youre dealing with older seals that have stretched. Hope that helps!
