So here’s the deal. I bought a '90 Talon a couple months back. But I haven’t driven it since. Well I go to start working on it, and these two lines start spitting out oil (Not sure which line is leaking though). When the car is running the lines leak a lot. When the car isn't running it doesn’t leak all that much, maybe a drop or two. I am not sure what these lines are for. Can anyone help me out with this? The lines are located on the driver side in front of the wheel.
Thanks

Look like oil cooler lines or power steering cooler lines to me.

Oil cooler lines.
Go to the dealer and get 4 new washers for the banjo bolt connections.

So the stock motor has an oil cooler? Is this due to the turbo?

Only the 90 and 91 cars had those. The turbo is part of it, but my 1Gb does not have an oil cooler. Its a nice part to have, but I would use an aftermarket one rather than the stock one.

Yes, 90-91 turbo models have a external oil cooler.

Someone told me once that some did not, the explanation I got was that those were late 91 cars that were part of the transition to the 1Gb in regards to the drivetrain.

What exactly is "1GB"?

The first of the TEL (Talon, Laser, Eclipse) platform had the flip up lights. These were the 1Ga cars. Starting in 1992, the car received a few changes- one of them being the fixed headlights among other things. Some people consider a late 1992 TEL the 1Gb since there were some changes made to the platform with fixed headlights. Most people go by the headlights/year of the vehicle when determining if the car is a 1Ga or 1Gb.

Right on. I had seen that before and wonder what that meant. Thank you.

On a side note. On my 90 how hard would it be to convert it over to flush mount headlights? The flip ups on my car seem to only work when they want to, not when I need them. What parts would I need to do it?

It sounds like it would be easy, but its best to read up on it as much as you can.

You need the all the lights, hood, fenders, and bumper. The wiring for the head lights needs to be changed as well.

I always liked the flip up lights, but if they are broken then something needs to be done. Personally, I would troubleshoot the setup you have now unless you happen to have the hookup on the 1Gb parts right now. What exactly is going on? Are the lights working but not the motors to flip them up? That may be relatively easy to track down if this is what is going on.

No hook up on the parts yet. The head lights work fine. It's getting them to flip up which is the major problem. When I first bought the car the driver side worked fine but the passenger side was slow. Now neither of them work.

That sux, have you used the manual crank for the flips to just leave them open for now? That should get you by for now. If you have not, look for a small rubber boot near the back of the flip with the hood up. Under that should be a small red knob that when you turn it, the lights will move either up or down. I will get some troubleshooting steps together so that you can get those working again. Where do you live? If it is near Aurora then I can help you out this weekend.
