ok so im working on a 97 ex with a full em1 brake conversion.. i got the fronts done just fine but no matter what i try i cannot seem to get the rear caliper to compress to fit over the new pads... i dont have the e-brake on so dont say that lol... and i even tried to compress it with the bleeder screw lose.. and still nothing.. someone have a idea to help me out?
Rear calipers don't compress by forcing them, there is a cylinder you screw in to get them to compress.
There are special tools for it but you can do it with pliers.

Before new brake pads can be installed, the rear brake caliper must be reset. The reset tool winds the piston back into position so the new brake pads will fit. This style of brake caliper will not compress with a clamp tool; it can only be reset with the proper reset tool.

I've used a file to put in between the indents and turned the pistons that way.

I used vise grips on my teg because I didn't have any thing else. LOL. But you can use a file like STIBungy stated above, or another kind of pliers. Just my 2cents.

That will damage the piston internally. The piston needs to be SCREWED in, not pressed in. It can be done with a large screwdriver or file, or the correct tool if you have one.

most autoparts store sell a block that has teeth on it that attaches to a 3/8" ratchet for this specific purpose...

Indents in the piston, i use a screw driver or prybar to turn the piston clockwise down.
