I've been thinking about boosting my LS that doesn't require major tuning. I am not looking to go all out or crazy, but something simple. I am still reading up on the fundamentals of boosting and what not. Anyone ever boosted this car on stock internals to have ~220whp? I still want to keep the power steering and ac as it will be a daily driver. I also know I will have to upgrade my exhaust, but I want to keep my car stock looking. I am trying to aim for the sleeper look. Where should I begin?

If your motor is in good condition 220whp on a LS is no problem. and if you worry about spending too much money on tunning then just go with a Hondata S100 w/ boost. I'm pretty sure you can fab up a kit for about $2.5K.

For a cheap turbo kit, here's what I recommend
DSM 450cc injectors $60
Garrett t3/t04e $450-$600
35mm WG $100-$150
BOV $30-$150
Turbo Timer $80-$100
Air Filter $20
Pang's Log Manifold $350-$500
Honda resistor box $10 junkyard
Oil sender/Return kit $80-$100
DSM intercooler or a cheap FMIC $40-$200
Boost Gauge $20-$40
MBC $20
EMS (hondata S100w/boost if your short on $) ask Tobi but I think it around $700w/tune
Couplers & Clamp $40
Someone to do the Intercooler Pipping,Downpipe and Exhaust for you. $600-$1000

of course you can do it for cheaper using Ebay stuff but I don't recommended. Don't go cheap on the turbo,Manifold, and the EMS.

Cost of Spending $2500-$3500.
Feeling when you step on the gas and the turbo car go into boost. Priceless...

Checkout homemadeturbo.com, it's a great resource for DIY boost. To the post above, don't forget the wideband!

I'd think that boosting an N/A motor would require a major tuning effort.

Isnt boosting an NA car considered major tuning?

I know that you should upgrade to a larger exhaust when boosting, but what will happen if a stock exhaust is kept? I know there will be huge turbo lag, but will there be damage?

It would retrict major flow of the exhaust gas therefore losing hp. Just think something like INHALE through your mouth and EXHALE through a small hot chocolate straw.

How about welding a 3" catback, but keeping the stock muffler?

SAN- You can get fairly quiet mufflers that are still high flow, if thats what your worried about. But the stock mufflers are still pretty restrictive.

What kind of exhausts are there that aren't loud?

APEX WORLD SPORT is the one suggested pretty commonly.....Do some searching on Honda-Tech. You should be able to find one pretty easily.

All mufflers are more quiet on a turbo system.
