i dont know, we will find out today though because eric is gonna race nick in his crx and we'll see if nick pulls on eric hard or not. Eric runs a 17.0 in his CRX Si and nick has never ran his car. Well like i said, i guess we'll see.

The ZC and crx Si tranies are the same except the ZC has a closer ratios and a longer final drive. The si has longer gears and a shorter final drive.

Dude you got it backwards.... Si tranny has shorter gears and ZC has longer gears

yea, u do have it backwards but anyways.....That's why it is good to put the Si final drive in a ZC tranny. But he just chose to go with the Si tranny...it did make quite a big difference from what i can tell.

Ummmmm........you run 17.7's why would you want to put a supercharger on and run 16's? It sounds like a large chunk of change for not very much perfomance.Originally posted by Turbojetta02

well they finally ending up racing and eric won. Eric has a 91 CRX Si with the stock SOHC D16A6 w/intake and exhaust and nick has a 90 CRX DX with a DOHC ZC swap, w/intake, exhaust and the si tranny. OH yeah, and Blair, you got smoked by nick. HAHAHA :fu: j/k :D

There's something wrong with a ZC powered car that can't beat a 17.0!! I told him it wasn't the transmission, and it's probably slower now that he swapped it for the Si. Somebody who knows what they are doing needs to check that car out for problems. I would start with a compression test, and work from there. Even on 3 cylinders the ZC powered car should win. I bet my car could could run 16s with 2 of my spark plugs out.

i dont see how a ZC could possibly beat a GSR. My friend todd just did a ZC/Si hybrid tranny and he still cant keep with me. All i have is intake and exhaust and im pullin a 15.6. I dont know...im lost.

AllMotorZC

15.6 is possible with a street driven ZC, but it's tough. The difference is weight. Your GSR probably weighs 2800 Lbs with a driver, a CRX can easily be as low as 2000 lbs. When I drove my civic on the street, My best time at bandimere with exhaust was 15.7 on street tires at 2030lbs. That was with a ZC transmission. I seriously doubt if the ZC/Si hybrid would have helped me at that point, because with a 22 inch tire, I was able to stay in 3rd gear. With the ZC/Si hybrid and the 22 inch tire, I had to shift at 1000ft so I basically wasted the last 320 feet. There is more to transmission gearing selection than just close ratio/long ratio and low final drive. You want to cross the finish line at peak horsepower in some gear. Preferably 4th gear, but that's only if you're haulin ass. So the goal should be to appropriately size your gears and tires to cross the stripe close to your shift point in 3rd gear. It's all mathmatical and there is no guesswork necessary. Transmission selection should be a careful process. Most people don't realize the easiest way to change your gear ratios is to change your tire size. This alone will make a huge difference. I even made myself a chart of what tire sizes to use for what MPH I intend to run, so that I could make educated decisions in an effort to waste less money on shit that doesn't make the car run faster.

well the GSR i believe weighs like 2569 and i only weigh about 145lbs so that shouldnt add to much weight. Im not sure...maybe my friend(s) ZC's arent tuned well enough. I was at the top of my 3rd when my friend was shifting into 4th gear. By that time, i was already about 2- 2 1/2 cars ahead or so.

AllMotorZC
11-11-2002, 12:23 PM
2-2 1/2 cars is huge in terms of 1/4 mile margin of victory. That's well over a second faster. And with you carrying 600-700 more lbs than them, I would say they definately aren't tuned up very well. A stock CRX si should be capable of 17.1 or 17.0, so there's no way if you add 22 horsepower and only 20lbs that it wouldn't be faster. Alot faster. I think a tune up is in order for the ZC car, and the Si is running about like it should. and both of them would run quicker on the street with ZC transmissions.

i can see the difference in weight and all but i dont know. Do you know what the CRX Si (j-spec) runs in the 1/4 mile stock?? That would give me a good idea of how well they would hold with or beat a GSR.

si tranny's fine if you don't mind torque steer. i put the si final drive in mine (zc trans)and its the shit. But seriously my stock zc (i/h/e) ran a 14.9 on street tires! but my car is gutted and I drive it like i hate it. It spanks stock gsr's too!

i think that did help out salazars car a lil bit ....fun throwin in the tranny for sure:D

yea nicks car is capible of alot more .....i think that his timing is all messed up from when we put in his new tranny and putting his clutch back on when he was twisting his pressure plate and flywheel i think it set his timing off and his valves were tickin mad he just got them tightined the other day though run much better

Vee-DubJetta8v
01-07-2003, 11:49 PM
yea nick need to take his car to a shop and get his timing correct and that shit will be mobbin 16's for sure

95GSRB18C
01-08-2003, 12:35 AM
i dont know...i guess everyone is saying the ZC is capable of running faster than what his does...if i were him, i would even take it to John Elway Honda if i had to and have them tune it. i mean, they put in Eric's SOHC ZC motor in his rex so they should be able to tune nick's pretty well....i think it's all in the timing and the compression.

Pang
01-09-2003, 02:54 PM
adjusting the timing is cake and theres no way to tune compression unless you rebuild the thing.

nicks going to be puttin in a turbo and his shit will quick ass fuck with that light ass car of his
