so ill be picking up Crane stage 1 cams this week. my question is there anything i have to do to support these? do i have to get springs and retainers or will my stock stuff be allright? they are stage 1 so i dont think i need to go crazy with building the head.
You should let me know how much of a difference in power you feel before and after installation. I've been thinking about picking up some cams. As far as support, I don't know.

What engine/etc are you installing them in. I know most Bseries stage one cams do not require aftermarket springs and retainers, but thats only rated to the factory redline. Crane Cams should have info on their sight regarding necessary parts/valvtrain componentes to couple with their cams. Hope that helps!

make sure you break them in the right way and you should be golden, no need for upgraded valvetrain with a stage1 crane cam!
What is the proper way to break them in?

lots of lube, DO NOT let it idle. It is essential to run the engine at 1500-2500 RPM for at least 20 minutes and get the engine started as quick as possible to prevent the lube from falling off critical internal parts. Since the internals are mainly oiled by the splash affect and wont be lubed sitting at idle
