My motor idles alot. I checked the ckeck engine light and it flashes 5 times. I looked it up and found that it was the MAP Sensor. I was wondering if anyone knoes if it is the wiring or if i need a new one.

A LOT of engines idle a lot......especially in traffic, for instance....

The easiest way to tell if your map is bad, is to replace it with a known good (or just different) MAP sensor. If the MAP is on the firewall, get the stock one for the car, if its on the Tbody, get the GSR one. Swapping it out and resetting your computer(only a couple bolts, and if its on the firewall, a couple vacuum lines) would be the quickest way to determine if itts truly a bad MAP or a wiring issue. (only because I cant recall the test procedure off of the top of the dome)

Thread cleaned up.

Code 5 is indeed a MAP sensor code. If it is coded up it usually has something to do with the wiring or internal electrical failure of the sensor. The best way to fix the problem is to diagnose it first. Installing a new part may only result in the same problem except now you have spent time and money when it could have been fixed with a simple wire repair.

Check the continuity between the white and Yellow/Red wires at the C453 connector at the ECU. (its the 16 pin white connector on the ECU) Pin #s 6 and 8. If you have an open circuit, then one of the wires is cut or the sensor is bad internally. If there is 0 ohms resistance then the wires are shorted together or shorted to ground somewhere.

This test can take about 5-10 minutes to complete and will tell you if you are looking for a bad wire or if you have a bad sensor.

1. Take your car into TC Performance.
2. Tobi will check the problem for your car.
3. Tobi will replace and fix your problem.
4. You pick up and leave with a fixed problem.
