My cousin just bought a 93 gs integra. We were considering the idea of removing the power steering on it, he's going the N/A route so even a tiny bit of horsepower would help. Were not looking for tremendous power, just a decently quick all motor DD. How much power does it REALLY add? Opinions of performance with or with out PS? Parking and regular turning? Is it worth it? I have power steering on my car so I couldn't really give him an opinion.

it doesnt add enough to tempt you to remove it. its a bitch to turn (especially on a heavy car) at parking lots etc.

if he wants a quick DD this is not going to help its going to make it a same speed bitch to turn dd

if you really want a horsepower rating for a stock engine or bpu it will add maybe 3hp? quick n/a dont usually mix as everyone hopes (unless of course you get a different engine) so try to lose some weight in less useful areas like the foam behind carpeting or trunk carpeting stuff like that. not many people find it smart to lose something like this (even in le mans they have A/C and Power steering - you remove these for quick drag races not for daily drivers)

What about we the purists who will have no such crap sucking power from our motor? What about those of us who don't give a damn about AC? I never had working AC in any car I had owned up until I got the LR3. I drive around all day with the AC off in that thing too LOLz....

Why not make your Car fast enough to Accomidate the ac and ps? I never had them from the factory but sure wish I did

i dont have a/c with my swap but i plan on running it eventually. i just think its funny people want to remove stuff to make power but wont actually spend money to add power besides an intake and exhaust. i must say are you actually going to persue your dream quick N/A daily driver or are you going to sell it in a few years trying to answer the question why you actually removed a/c and power steering? or if you have to actually ASK how to remove a/c and power steering should you really be doing it? the answers are obvious to me - no n/a DD is going to be decently quick unless you go for a different engine than what you already have. any stock integra thats n/a is not fast or quick sad to say, sorry.

removing stuff like a/c and power steering or ABS are things *SOME* road racers do and most drag racers not daily drivers, to say you are just used to no p/s and want to remove it or removing A/C because you think it will free up 2 horsepower while you are driving to work and "because you dont use it anyway" is pure ignoreance and i feel sorry for your children

Damn, easy there! LOLz... I kept my PS because i figured it would be bitch to turn. My cousin and I are constantly working on the GS to make it better but after your opinions, We'll keep power steering. The A/C compressor recently f****d up so We'll be removing that. Thanks for all your input guys. I think this thread is done :)

My power steering is gone and the car doesn't weigh shit, it's super easy to turn. With power steering it probably would have been retarded.

...I took mine off of my four door when I had it, didnt really notice much of a difference, performance wise, turning effort. Maybe Im just HE-MAN!!

If you do away with power steering, loop the rack to make it a bit easier to turn. Some people put a T in the loop and run it to a breather filter too. If all you do is just take off the power steering belt, then it's going to take some effort to turn the wheel at low speeds, and you will still be able to drive, but it will get old fast. For a daily driver, I'd probably just go with power steering.

Werd, this is one of the legit ways. Also if you just remove the belt, you'll just be fighting the power steering fluid, in turn making steering a bitch. Another way for p/s removal is to simply remove all power steering components, including rack, and just swap in a manual rack from a 88-91 Civic/Crx, for the DA. This is method that I chose and I've been running it for a couple years. Either way you choose, make sure to loop the lines on your VSS, as that is dependent on p/s steering flow. Here (http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88673&highlight=manual+steering+rack) is a great thread on this subject, that helped me out.
