OK, I HAVE A 2000 HONDA CIVIC WITH A 99 SI MOTOR THAT'S PISSIN ME THE FU** OFF! THE CAR SEEMS TO SLOWLY LACK IN POWER AS WELL AS DIMMING LIGHTS WHEN IM DRIVING AT NIGHT AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF, SO I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR THINKIN IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

I TURNED THE CAR ON EVERYTHING WAS WELL UNTIL I DROVE IT JUST AROUND THE BLOCK AND IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME EXACT SH**! OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING IS KILLIN MY ALTERNATOR BECAUSE EVERYTIME I JUMP THE BATTERY IT STARTS LIKE NORMAL AND SLOWLY TAKES A SH**!

ANY IDEAS OR ANSWERS AS TO WHY ITS DOIN THIS OR WHAT I MAY BE DOING WRONG?? GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKS!

Probably not a dead battery, but it could be. May have a shisty main relay, too.

p.s. Lose the fucking caps.

What engine harness did you use when you did the swap?

WELL I DO HAVE AN EXTRA PARTS CAR IN THE BACK. I COULD CHANGE THE BATTERY AND SEE IF THAT HELPS OR DOES THE TRICK BUT, IF NOT I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SET THE WHOLE CAR ON FIRE

THE CAR HAD A GSR IN IT WHEN I REPLACED IT WITH AN SI MOTOR.

My only suggestion is to disengage your caps lock key. Please.

Good luck with the problem. Honda Ghandi is the man when it comes to Hondas. When did the problem start? Who did the swap?

I had the swap done long before the problem started. The problem started when i installed some new headers which I still can't figure out if it had anything to do with the install.

did you disconnect any grounds? on the valve cover front?

Sounds like you either have a charging issue or a power/ground issue. If I were you, I would go back and check your work on the header and make sure you didnt pull something out or disconnect something.

get a volt meter, check the voltage when running. 13+ volts? no? your alternator is dead...before you replace that, I bet your fuse is no good. check the "meter" fuse, it should be a 7.5 amp fuse in your fuse box under the steering wheel. If you do have over 13 volts when it runs, your battery is not holding a charge, replace battery. It doesnt sound like a ground issue.

I'll try that and see what happens. And why does caps key need to be turned off? what's wrong with that?

Typing with caps on an Internet forum is the equivelant to yelling. Plus it is very hard to read.

Dash Wiring is not really a simple thing to explain. I had the same problem in my CRX. Unfortunately I wrecked it before I could fix it. Probably a short or something though.

more than happy to look at it for you. No one will no an exact price, depending on what it will take to fix it.
