Hi, well the story is I have a 13 week old shiba which I adore. She does pretty well but she is a very stubborn dog (almost acts like a cat). I got a few books on how to train and thus far she hasn't taken to many of the tactics well. I was wondering if someone could recommended a dog trainer to help me out. Shibas are gorgeous but notoriously stubborn dogs. I know they do classes at petsmart but I rather go to a professional. She is already pretty well socialized with other dogs. But she needs help with commands and house training she is currently in the process of being kennel trained.

they want 295 for private classes and they do all kinds of training and if you ever need to come back or something its free as long as you own the dog!

Honestly enroll in a DDFL or similar training class. Much cheaper and it only strengthens your bond with the dog, as well as your role as the pack leader.
I wouldn't put a dog in the hands of another trainer unless you need specialized training. Attack/protection dogs, hunting dogs, etc.
Hiring a specialist to come to your house is helpful, but your dog is 13 weeks old, of course it is stubborn.
I think HAI needs a pet/animal forum. Dogs > children.

Yeah and I realize she is just a puppy but most of the other owners I have talked to said that you really have to break them and teach them when they are young.
A pet forum would be awesome!

There is a high end pet food store off of Smoky Hill Road near Southlands Mall, and on their counter they usually have a couple fliers and business cards for personal dog trainers that come to your house.
If you're on that side of town and you're interested I'll give you directions to them.

pangs selling some Jack russels
I'll only adopt. Too many homeless pets out there that could use a good home. Plus I don't want something that small.

Nice M@. I will always have at least one shelter dog.
I always love going to shelters, but hate it at the same time. I always wish I could take them all with me. :(

i second this. I have taken three dogs here. I haven't graduated because im lazy with any of them, (first dog was lost, still have the second, third passed away) But they are very good. The first two months are private, third is group classes, and you can continue to go back as long as you want.
