A friend of mine (actually his daughter) at work blew the head gasket in his Accord and he was asking me where to get a good quality, reasonably priced reman engine from. I suggested a low mile used engine, but he'd prefer something rebuilt, possibly with a warranty, for his daughter. Does anybody have a suggestion on where to buy a rebuilt engine from? I can easily swap out the engine, so I don't need shop recommendations, just where to get the engine.

The car is a 98 Accord, but unfortunately he doesn't know what engine off the top of his head, so I don't have that info yet. I do know it's a 4cyl though.

Jasper could probably help you and im sure Napa or any of the other parts stores could get you one

A reman engine can get unnecessarily expensive. If he's hellbent on getting one though, more power to him!!

Yea, Jasper and/or Napa have reman engines, but I dont know how much I would trust them. Granted they're waranteed and sheit, but you never know who actually rebuilt then, and sometimes parts that arent replaced by then will be the ones failing (happened before with some reman. trannies, etc. from Napa).

I would strongly STRONGLY recommend getting a low mileage Japanese engine. Sunrise Japanese Engines, for instance, compression checks, leakdown tests, and dynos each engine before they ship it in order to guarantee a perfect running engine is delivered at your door. AND the engines dont look as though they've been rolled down a hill before they ship it. If your interrested, (and I know you may not be, just trying to save your buddy some $$) check them out @:

I know my reply is a little off topic, but I had to give you my .02. Hope Ive helped some!

Jasper engines are the very best in reman, with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty. the problem is they wont warranty the engine if you dont have it installed by one of their preferred installation shops.

I tried to pursuade him that a low mileage used engine would be fine, but he wants a rebuilt. I wonder if he'll change his mind when I show him prices. Thanks for the link.

We sell jasper products here, and have NEVER had a problem.. well i take that back. they put a 5.8L ford cam in place of a 5.0L cam in a bronco we installed an engine in. That was the only problem. They did a great job of getting us another engine quickly, and we were very happy with every result since. Jasper is a good call
